As I responded to your other post, Pima's RN program just accepted their first class a few months ago. So there is no one that can answer wehat the program was like. They have only completed four months at the most.

HI, I just saw your msg. My friend and I were interested in this too, as it is new to AZ. They had a seminar over the summer.. We learned that the schooling they have can NOT be transfered in to a school like ASU or MCC, or any community college... You can't use that education to get your Bach or Masters.. Its a certificate program that you can then test for your RN. SO if you want to go on to get more education, this school is NOT for you... ALSO- It was VERY EXPENSIVE-- like $20,000 for their program -you can pay $1000 per month and its about an 18 month program.. You should call and make an appt or see if they any seminars coming up... We were disappointed...

We searched a lot of "these" non-school programs and found the cost to be too high compared to Community College or State School... (My friend got into the RIO On-line program and John C Lincoln/ Paradise Valley program for the Spring- so she is good to go.. She picked RIO on-line... I am still needing Micro myself..)GOOD LUCK...

Thanks for the great info. Do you happen to know the hours per week? Is it a monday through friday deal? I originally went through Maricopa skills center for my LPN. So I know what you mean about nothing transferring over. Thats where Im at now. I still need to get most of my pre-reqs done. I believe I am going to do University of Phoenix's Lpn to Bsn program. This will take about 3 years. But please let me know about the hours if you know. Thx....:rotfl:

I don't know that one...:

Pima Medical Institute is located in Mesa, Arizona.

Im from Cali and I heard about it through a friend. I was very interested in the school just because it offered pre-reqs in addition to the actual Nursing Courses needed to graduate. The program is for exactly two years for those who dont have any pre reqs completed. The total cost is $37,000 when you add taxes. I drove from Cali to Arizona and boy oh boy was I depressed. I didnt like the scenary, but after thinking about it for a while and going different places, i figured that it would be the perfect time to invest my personal time. There is a lot of testing involved. The first two that you take on site are elementary and Im waiting to take the entrance..

Its hard to explain, but they go by a point system in order to be considered. they only take a total of 30 people per semester

Almost forgot to mention that they have another one in Las Vegas.

Go to Pimamedical.com and check it out. They are accredited.

Be careful because its provisional.

arizona and las vegas..

People who havent been down to arizona for the orientation wouldnt understand. Im from cali and I did my research. It's accredited, well provisional...The only thing is you cant transfer to a UC because they dont have the connections (yet)... University of Phoenix is taking there students and transfering credits over for the BSN and MSN

I don't know about the LPN to RN bridge, but I have done all the testing, interviews, essay, etc. for the full nursing associates degree program at Pima Medical, and if I get in (which it looks like my chances are good), I will be going there. I'm not concerned about transferring my credits right now. I took many of them at MCC anyway, so those are transferrable, and I doubt that I will go back for my BSN (I'm 47 years old, and by the time I get my RN, I'll be almost 50...and I've had enough school! Plus nurses I have talked at the hospital where I work say that BSN's don't make that much more than ADN's.) I am a Pima Medical honors graduate (1994 for Health Unit Coordinator), and I taught there for 2 years, and I know the education there is excellent, and I like the idea of small classes! It's a good option, even though it does cost more...my husband and I discussed it, and decided that it's worth the extra cost if I can get into nursing school and get my degree sooner, without waiting for my number to be drawn in a lottery!

Yes, they do offer an LPN to RN bridge program. In fact I start here in Tucson on March 22, 2010. The cost is roughly $17,000.00 for the two semesters needed to sit for the NCLEX. It ends in November. So the Mesa program also has this as well.
