LPN to RN new grad denied for multiple positions

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hello Everyone, I'm sitting here typing this and words can't even describe how I feel at this moment. I've been a LPN for 15 years and graduated in September of 2022 with my BSN. I've worked in multiple areas including psych, , nursing informatics, skilled nursing, pediatrics and outpatient. Now that I have graduated, I can't seem to secure a position as a RN. I have applied to over 20 positions (many of them new grad programs) and even went to my latest interview for a HCA hospital new grad position. They didn't even bother emailing me to let me know another candidate got the offer and kept my application as "under consideration" for 3 months. The recruiter assigned to me was fired and every time I tried reaching out, I never got a response. Never in my life have I had such a frustrating experience as this. As a LPN, I never had issues securing employment. Why would this even happen to a new RN with years of clinical experience? My old employers were wonderful and so supportive of the transition. I don't even know what to do? I'm even thinking about getting my California license and work over there.

Have you had a trusted friend or family member review your resume and practice interviews? They can provide feedback on how you are doing at presenting yourself and your goals.

Maybe employers consider you a "new grad RN?”

Many employers do not consider Lpn  experience as nursing experience . It's silly to say the least

I agree with this.  Unfortunately, it is just impossible for strangers online to know what the problem is!  I wish you the best, and you will eventually find something.  Have a trusted person look at the job ads you are seeing, and go over your resume.  If you get to the interview stage, have someone who is brutally honest practice interviews with you.

Well, I was called for an interview from a position I applied for months ago and got it. It's in Labor and Delivery ?

Congratulations!

Maybe it's your location. Some areas graduates have jobs before they graduate.
