  1. Well, I was called for an interview from a position I applied for months ago and got it. It's in Labor and Delivery ?
  2. Hello Everyone, I'm sitting here typing this and words can't even describe how I feel at this moment. I've been a LPN for 15 years and graduated in September of 2022 with my BSN. I've worked in multiple areas including psych, , nursing informatics, skilled nursing, pediatrics and outpatient. Now that I have graduated, I can't seem to secure a position as a RN. I have applied to over 20 positions (many of them new grad programs) and even went to my latest interview for a HCA hospital new grad position. They didn't even bother emailing me to let me know another candidate got the offer and kept my application as "under consideration" for 3 months. The recruiter assigned to me was fired and every time I tried reaching out, I never got a response. Never in my life have I had such a frustrating experience as this. As a LPN, I never had issues securing employment. Why would this even happen to a new RN with years of clinical experience? My old employers were wonderful and so supportive of the transition. I don't even know what to do? I'm even thinking about getting my California license and work over there.
  3. Hi!! I really enjoy the school, The teachers are amazing and they really care. It is challenging but well worth it. I am in my second term but will be withdrawing because I'm moving. The night time classes are very convenient.
  4. I currently work in the IT department with a large insurance company and I love it there. Occasionally, I pick up shifts with hospice so I don't lose some skills. I'm also in school, so sometimes my schedule can be hectic. Last weekend I picked up a shift and was assigned an elderly lady. When I arrived to the home, I was greeted by the patients daughter and quickly let me know that she was an R.N. and expected the best care for her mother. She questioned my skills and abilities during my shift, which was a bit frustrating. Then she said something to me that shocked me. "You are just an LPN", you can't possibly have the capacity of an R.N. It was the very first time that I felt the need to defend my title. I even explained that I was currently in a bridge program but she quickly brushed it off and repeated herself. "But you are still an LPN". When did nurses develop this mentality of superiority when titles collide? Yes I'm an LPN and no I can't I.V. Push narcotics but I'm a good nurse. My mentality is about patient care and compassion. I guess I have to shake it off. I felt hurt and belittled, so was wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem.
  5. I graduated from Galen for my LPN. I also started the bridge hybrid program back in March and I can tell you that I simply couldn't keep up with the material. It is so detailed and in depth with everything, that I felt like I needed more one on one time in order to understand. Anatomy and physiology was such a challenge for me. It requires full dedication. I failed the first time and finally passed the second time. The only thing that I didn't like was how they dropped me immediately to reenroll into the program. I love Galen but it was starting to scare me and I didn't want to risk failing again. I decided to go into a part time LPN to RN bridge program in Brandon, FL. Only 3 times a week 5:30pm to 9:50pm. It currently works for me.
  6. I started the online bridge program at Galen and I can tell you that it is very challenging. I actually started Jersey college LPN to RN program and only have to go to school 3 times a week. Also South University offers an LPN to RN type of program online. Hope this helps.
