Hi everyone,
I just signed up for the Excelsior. I am an LPN, was a USARMY MEDIC 91B attached to an infantry unit. I also completed a two year Computer aided design for the Architectural drafting.....before I went into the ARMY. I am 41 y/o M and I work in an RN role in my office. I am very well respected and have the whole team supporting my decision to continue to progress with my desire for RN. EC has received my LPN transcripts and Army transcrips were sent on 09/17...possibly receive them on Monday. The other school is now closed and ordered transcripts are coming from Post-secondary education. They mentioned a week.
I already paid the $75, ready for the $875. They said I need to wait until they review the documentation to correctly assess what I need to actually complete in order to get my RN. I am very excited and this blog has a lot of valuable information on it.
What I would like to ask the community is ... I am assuming you focus on one class at a time, then test out & move on to the next? I just don't have what "classes" that I will need to complete the program (until transcripts are verified).
Can anyone provide an example of how they organized their day with Study. Did you set your test date, then start studying? Anything would be helpful at this point. Ordered some Lisa Arends and Studygroup101 guides as well.
Any advice would be great. Thanks to everyone. Greg
Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. It makes it easier to prepare for studying. Can't wait to get this going. Been really busy this week. EC finally received my AARTS transcripts, but still awaiting one more. good luck to all...look forward to utilizing these boards for communication and helpful information.
:yeah:Thanks for replying, Yes, I have talked to my coach and they are helping me learn how to navigate to use the resources and take advantage of them to help me progress throughout the program. I have already taken A&P and Micro took them and made A's and B's, took them at a COMMUNITY COLLEGE, just need the 7 Nursing classes since I am already a LPN. And yes, I do need a STUDY BUDDY!!!!!!! I am going to schedule a test date to give my self a GOAL to WORK TOWARDS!!!!Will test and take TRANSITIONS after that then do CHRONICITY and REPRODUCTIVE!!!!!!! If you decide to buy your books from Amazon.com as I did then make sure you get the newer editions of 2 books they have changed. (1) The Nursing Diagnosis is 3rd edition now not the 2nd, and the (2) Med-Surg book is called Brunner & Suddarth's Textbook of Medical Surgical Nursing 12th edition by Smeltzer, S. Bare. (2010)THEY ARE NOT USING Phipps anymore, these are the only 2 books that have changed and they will soon have a newer edition of the Fundamental's Book but, it is not out yet so I got the 6th edition which has the same information, just on different pages and I wanted to start studying now and not lose anytime getting started waiting on the new edition to come out. Make sure you print out the new CONTENT GUIDES since they do not mail them anymore!!!!! Keep in touch with me so that we can continue to share information, keep each other informed and study together.!!!!! I read these posts everyday!!!
Don't forget about EBay and Half.com for your books. Copy the book information from the EC bookstore, the paste it onto notepad then commence your search. You will not have to get the latest edition, you can be one or two off and they will have about the same information and will still closely follow the EC study guide.
Good luck
Steve

Have you talked to your coach for advice? I was assigned a coach that helps me navigate through the different things to take advantage of with the school and the courses. Did you already do all your pre-req's? (micro, a&p etc)? I work with a girl who did EC and she said doing micro and a&p helped to get her through the nursing exams. If you need to do any of the other exams (besides the nursing) let me knw cause I'm looking for a study buddy!!! Good luck!
