Hi,
I'm currently in LPN-RN program in VA. my first semester I am attenting nursing classes Mon. all day 9am to 3pm and on Friday from 9a-12p. I work full time my work hours are off Mon. and half a day on Friday and work every Sat. I do not recommended working 11-7 and trying to continue your education, however you can do anything you put your mind too, so with that said if that's your only option you can make it happen. Other options are working doubles on the weekends and one day per week if you need full-time status. I know as I get more into my nursing program it will become more intense and I am not sure how that will effect my schedule in the future. I believe that motivation, self-determination, and a positive thinking is the key to success. You must believe!

I currently work 2030-0630 M-Thur... I will be able to float those days and adjust the hours as needed to fit in with school as needed. I am very lucky there. I have one pre-req left Micro which I will take on Saturdays this semester, and I just completed Chemistry that I took in the summer session, which started at 0730 and went until 0945 on class days and 1300 on lab days. Plus I had a 45 min commute home.
It was tough but I managed to do it 4 days a week. I pulled out a high B in the class too.
So I figure with a little help from my friends at Starbucks and alot of determination I can pull it off with Nursing School. The good thing is that those 10 hours of awake time at work include 6 hours of free study time. So any other time not at school will be sleeping.
My family counts on my paycheck so I don't really have an alternative to this. So I understand where you are coming from. I just don't get to see them that much for awhile.
thanks both of you! Your advice will help me thanks again :) We shall sacrifice now and enjoy later !!!! =)

I worked 16-hour weekend double shifts every Saturday and Sunday as an LPN at a nursing home while attending an RN completion program on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

I attend lecture every friday and have one 12 hour clinical day. So I'm thinking about taking a 6a-4pm mon through thur job, four days a week. Its HH. Any opinions on that ?
The money would be so great too... sigh
thanks everyone...hey nurselove ! yeah that sounds like a plan to try and see how it works and if you can do it then go for it!!! you wont know until you try though kind of like me I need to just try working certain number of hours and hope it all works out :) goodluck!
Thanks !!! My family and boyfriend are so worried that it may affect my grades. I told them that I won't know unless I try. I can always go back to parttime, nothing is written in stone. Good luck to you too. Lets keep each other posted.
