LPN to RN bridge program????

Published

I recently graduated from the LPN program at Galen College in KY, I want to go back 2 school for my RN but I really don't want to owe Galen $20,000 on top of the $16,000 that I already owe them especially when their credits don't transfer everywhere:crying2: Does anyone know of any schools that has a lpn to rn bridge program that is accredited that will accept Galens credits?????

where is galen college? if it is not in cali or maryland, then you can do excelsior college (http://www.excelsior.edu) distance learning lpn-rn program. i probably spent less than $6k for my rn.

good luck,

college network, rue, etc..are all publishing companies that supply you with books for the excelsior exams. they are not a college. you do not have to use them because it will cost you extra thousands of dollars and you are bounded by their contract. go straight to excelsior college and pay as you go. like what i said visit their website and try going to the distance learning forum here. there are so many ec students there who are just starting and or going through the program.

here's the forum.

distance learning for nursing - nursing for nurses

yes it is difficult in the beginning because you won't be fully aware of how the program works until you take a couple of ec exams.

i believe kentucky has no problem with excelsior college. a couple of states like those i mentioned above won't license you as an rn if you graduate from excelsior. i don't care because i have no plans of moving to their states anyway.

THANKX!! I will definetly be looking into excelsior!!

your welcome! i love ec and am now considering going for my rn-bsn with them as well. :D

so many people are nice and will answer your questions in the distance learning forum.

You should take into consideration that 20,000 isnt that much when you will be doubling your salary as an RN :)

double? where? i am only getting 5-6 dollars per hour extra from lpn to rn pay.

it would take a long time to pay off that $20k loan especially it will be an add on to her current debt.

Wow, you are only getting a 5 to 6 dollar raise? You are at the wrong facility. Here in Cali the LVNs start at $20ish and the RNs start at $40ish.

The RN's I work with at UC Davis make 80,000 to 90,000 a year.

wow, that's not a lot between lvn & rn. well here in ca (which doesn't accept excelsior) pays a lot more between lvn & rn. as a matter of fact i know someone who is getting $75 hr as a rn prn. i'm telling you that as a lvn i'm getting far less than that.

if you have more than a years experience as a rn then you can apply for endorsement as an excelsior graduate. in the bay area, the salary is a lot higher but so is the cost of living. i'm curious how the brn would handle your case as an excelsior graduate. how would they evaluate your education and experience. imo, i think they descriminate against excelsior graduates.
