Hello all,
I know there are many threads containing information about the Excelsior online LPN to RN bridge program. I am creating a new thread because I could not find answers to a few of my questions. Background information about me: I have worked as a Patient Care Technician for 5 years at a Dialysis clinic, worked as a CNA for one year at a long-term care facility, and I will graduate with my LPN in March. I decided to go the LPN route because I found a program I could start right away and finish in a years time. My plan was to start the Excelsior program as soon as I pass my PNCLEX and finish with my RN in 6 months. Do you think this goal is attainable? I am planning on not working and spending all of my time studying. Has anyone out there done this program in a similar time frame? Also, is it true there is still a HUGE waiting list to take the CPNE? My only other option is to go to a local CC but I would not be able to start that bridge program (if accepted) for 9 months after graduating with my LPN and the program is a year in duration. So I need some help making a decision without any sugar-coating. Any advice would be much appreciated.
I just enrolled in the lvn to rn transition and Im terrified that this financial obligation has been made in error! I was feeling rushed and pressured bc of the October 1 deadline, so I signed up for the payment plan. Please, anyone with suggestions on study material or any words of encouragement at this point...

Hi KishJW, Relax! Take a deeeeeep breath.... yes, it is a big financial obligation, but one that will pay off many times over! The 'pay as you go' aspect is especially appealing to me, and the payment plan also looks to be a good choice.
Go to Excelsior's website, look at the various exams, and decide which one you will do first... are you done with all your pre-reqs? I only have Micro, and I think I'm going to finish that first. (WISH I had done it before enrolling....) Health Safety and Transitions will likely be my first two Nursing exams.
Good luck to you... we can DO this!!
Jess, you have to be really self motivated to do the excelsior program. If you barely opened a book for LPN then I would say save your money and go the traditional route. Not trying to be a debbie downer(or is that donny downer?) but you will be wasting your money if you cannot be disciplined to get going on your own.
I do think excelsior has a payment plan. I think that is just for the admission payment. If you're gonna take classes through excelsior get student loans. If you are just gonna test out then i think you can make payments but not test until its paid in full.
Lol it's ok , I didn't open a book as I didn't need them at all n still passed with flying colors , graduated on Friday, had my letter to test on Monday, tested on Wed had my license on Friday , passed on 85 questions , I've worked in healthcare since the 90s in the ER , so I was thinking of this is more than a publishing company I would try it , it sounds great to be able to test out n be done with it ., it's such a pain to do the work of one and the pay of the other , I can triage I just can't sign the assessment, can't push drugs but can start an IV and hang them , and been in more codes than on can imagine , I'm motivated to be finished :)

Look over ALL your past credits, for the Nursing classes you have taken in FL and Canada... I'll bet you've got some of the General Education requirements!
Next step is to apply, after requesting official transcripts from past schools.
Good luck!!
