LPN to RN alternatives?

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Hi all,

I'm about to graduate from LPN school next month and I was accepted to ISU, thinking I'd get my prereqs done and apply for their LPN to BSN bridge program online. After I sent my transcripts, they informed me that because I had failed a nursing class (OB/Peds, because my mother died, which I retook and passed with a B) I can't apply to their nursing program for 5 years.

Obviously, this puts a huge kink in my plans. Does anyone know of an online LPN to RN bridge program? (I live in Indiana)

Any help would be appreciated. This was a huge blow, especially after telling my friends and family "hey, I'm gonna be going to ISU!"

Wow! Sorry to hear that. Try excelsior college.

Wow I cannot believe they won't allow you to attend their program because you failed one class. I wonder if that means you cannot fail a class through them. When I was in my LPN program you could retake a class once, and you could only retake 2 classes. This seems very harsh.

I am very sorry for the loss of your mother, and not getting into isu

Is there other schools around?

I'm going traditional ADN route not a bridge, it's only a semester longer, and I figured the more knowledge the better.

Good Luck

Is Excelsior accepted in your state? It's another distance learning option.

Can you appeal the admissions decision ?

To me you have a valid explanation, especially since you repeated the course and not only passed but earned a B!

You can try looking at your local community college LPN-ASN/RN bridge programs as many have an online option these days, if you need the distance education component.
