LPN programs in Connecticut

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

I may be relocating to CT in a couple of months and was wondering if anyone could tell me of any LPN programs in CT if there are any. I haven't been able to find the information on my own. Thanks.

Tonya, It depends on which part of the state you're relocating to. I live in the Northeast part of CT and graduated from the Windham Regional Vo-Tech in Willimantic. This is the best program in the state and graduates tend to score the highest on the boards.

I know that there are several other programs in the state, but not sure where they're located.

I would recommend getting in touch with the CT Board of Nursing in Hartford which you can find on goggle.com

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply!

I am moving to the New Britain area. I will check the CT board of nursing for more program information. I found a few programs finally, but I am not too sure about them. What I would really love to find is an evening/weekend program for LPN or RN degrees but I haven't come across any of those in CT.

Thanks again for the information.

New England Tech in New Britain offers an LPN program. I go to New England tech, but at another branch. Unfortunately it costs $18K for the LPN program because its a private school. There is also Kaynor tech in Waterbury which costs I believe $4000 but is EXTREMELY hard to get into. They mostly pick men, because of quotas. Here is New England techs webpage:

I like them because if you start falling behind the teachers will come in early or stay late to tutor you.

Here is a page with a bigger lists of places that offer LPN programs in CT.

I will be graduating from the LPN program in January, here is the link below for the program, they have 11 different locations I believe, and some have night programs. From what I've heard this program is the same as all the others, and it's a whole lot cheaper because it's a state run program, about $4,000 instead of $18,000 like others. Check it out soon because you have to take entrance exams. Good luck.

I was at New England Tech in Hamden. The only thing about them besides the tuition is the test is pass or fail one time only. If you don't pass the test to get in, your not allowed to apply to that particular school again. I liked it there. I was three months from graduation and went over my hours that I was allowed to miss. I do miss my teachers and one day I will stop by just to say hi. I am at Eli Whitney in Hamden now. Tuition is a little over $3000. There a a lot of technical schools that offer the LPN course. You would have to take the NET and if you pass, there is an interviewing process to decide if you will be allowed into the class or to decide if you will be put on a waiting list. Good luck:-)

Thee are plenty of two year programs in your area. Goodwin College just started a program and there are several other ones. I would suggest going for your RN is possible, There are so many more possibilities for you. Mayne hospitals here in CT have gone to the "all RN" staff idea. If you have to go to school, I would recommend going on for the RN. It will serve you better in the future. By the way, I am familiar with New britain. I live two towns away.

I agree with BetsRN. I go to Capital and they are starting an evening program next year except the waiting list is two years. Schools in the southeren part of the state generally have less waiting time with the exception of Southern Connecticut state University. Gateway Community College has a RN program and is about 30 minutes outside of New Britain. If you do decide to go the LPN route, dont go to new England Tech program---it's way too expensive and they put too much undo stress on you (my sister graduated from there). Try to get into EC Goodwin Tech which is in New Britain.

Where are you moving from? New Britain is very depressing place so be prepared.Jobs are hard to find if you have no education, and even then... That's just my opinion.

good luck to you in all your endeavors!
