is it okay to call yourself a nurse if you are lpn?
i thought lpn was nurses assistant, but i just started school and everyone in the class is saying things like' why did you want to be a nurse" etc , meaning lpn is a nurse????
also what is cna?
i thought lpn was bottem of the totem poll is that true??

I think in Ontario, what you can do in the hospital really depends on where you work. There are some hospitals that have RPN's doing IV starts and others where they don't and yet even others who still have an IV team. I think the scope is much wider than it has ever been, although it does sound a bit wider in Alberta. I have never heard of RPN's in dialysis here. The only thing that bothers me is that it can take a very long time to obtain full time status and sometimes even regular part time status at the majority of hospitals in Ontario yet RN's usually do not have this problem.
