Im a new LPN moving to Ashland, MO. It's between Columbia & Jefferson City. I'm trying to fing out what LPN are being paid in area. I've heard some low number $13 - 14.00 and hr? Would I be able to support myself making that there? I'm applying to RN programs in area. I need to know if ill be able to pay rent and eat while I do it. Any salary info would be great...thanks.

I am a 3yr LPN who works at the local hospital in Jeff city. I currently make 13.40 and that is after merit raise of 3%. I moved from Kansas City so i did think that was ridiculously low but for this area is it not really that bad. Clinics will not pay you more than 11.50 to 12 MAX. I have no idea how much nursing homes pay. University Of Mo-columia hospital does not hire LPNs in the hopsital so a clinic would be the only choice. St. Marys does not hire right now period, despite their ad postings. I work at Capital Region in the Inpt rehab unit (was the only thing hiring at the time) and do actually love it dsepite coming from a surgical backround. My rent is 515 a month (1100 sq townhome) , utilities are about 90 mo for electric, and 45mo for water. My cable is about 70 a month. So it really just depends on where you are coming from and the adjustment from your previous costs of living. I would find it more difficult if being the only income but i have a daughter to support too. So it just depends. Private message me if there is anything i can help you with and good luck.
Thanks for the info and taking the time to respond.

I was looking on MU's hospital board at LPN job posts and one of them was I think $13-15 plus 75% off MU tuition and benefits. You may want to check that out. Sorry I don't have the website I just googled Mizzou hospital jobs.
Wow. I'm applying to MU nursing program. As well as Columbia & Lincoln College. That sounds great.
Yeah definitly check it out! I'm hoping to get in an LPN program and I like checking out hospital boards just to see openings and if they provide any benefits. When I saw that i thought "unreal!" I think that was only under one
lpn posting though
I'll be done in Febuary and moving there in March. I can't wait. I love the area. I'll be in Ashland with family at unroll I can fond a place. Thanks for link.
I wish the 13.40 was for new grad. I am a three year lpn. Isn't to bad for JC area. definately not great.
It's just that new grads here are making $26hr and $34 agency? I really want to move there. I know I would enjoy a better quality of life in Columbia. It just that I've worked so hard to accomplish becoming an LPN. I can imagine working hard and still living from check to check. I just wish I could get feedback from more single LPN who are living alone and making it on $13 an hr.
