This topic has been around before, but I was looking for something more up to date. Things have fluctuated in past two years or so. I know people are always looking for salaries and most of the time its for RN's. I'll start ;-)

Around the Cincinnati area here I'm not sure about the starting pay or pay in hospitals for LPN's. But I know LTC facilities are about 16 to start ranging up to about 22. I've seen ad's in the paper saying $24 but I don't know what that was for. Agencys are about 21-25 dollars for LPN's also. I believe Jobs are plentiful around here! Also when I was up in columbus, I heard an instructor saying they are starting their LPN's out with $27-30 while the RN's get about $40-50 ..I don't really believe that, but I just tossed that out there maybe for some clarification?

Bluechips, I feel bad for you. Are all healthcare positions that low in your area?

Where did you get this figure? OMG!!! I know this post is old, but I was doing a search as I was contimplating going to Central Tech in Sapulpa and then working in Tulsa as an LPN. Can you give me your source for this info???

i am an LPN working in a SNF in west georgia. i have 5 years of nursing experience. with long-term care differential and weekend pay (i only work weekends for now, as im in school) my hourly wage calculates to 15.99 an hour. of course, when i graduate RN school this fall, my pay will only increase about 4 dollars, as i will be paid as a "new RN graduate nurse" kinda sucks, but its more than what i am currently making.

The pay for a LVN is higher in the Bay Area in California because the cost of living is so high. A two bedroom house may cost you 500,000 with no yard. everyone may get paid higher wages in the Bay Area than other places, but it is all relative.

Okay, first of all Hi to everybody! Now, in my area in Eastern KY, I just started in a hospital at $12.85......:angryfire . Seems to be close to the average starting rate around her, kinda ticks me off too. I just wondered, even if the cost of living thing is the big factor, don't other facilities in the state charge the same as here for services rendered? Like if a pt. with specific conditions, receiving specific care here, were to get exactly the same services and such, in a facility, in say a large city like Louisville, they would also be charged (or the insurances would) and would have to pay exactly the same basically, right? Am I making myself clear enough... I know that a lot of health care facilities are owned by a corp. or network of facilities, so is cheaper labor one area they make profits on?? I may be way off on this one, but was curious.

Hello everybody. I started @26.00 dollars an hour in California. $30 on night shift. Most places start @ 25.00.:loveya:

Used to live in San Jose, but parents sold our house and moved to Sacramento since it's a little cheaper here. I'm considering doing the LVN program here, which only takes 1 year. I plan on moving back to San Jose to work as an LVN b/c I hate it here! I've worked at UCSF and Stanford and plan to go back to either places while going back to school to do the LVN to RN bridge and renting an apt. with roommates. It's true, the cost of living is high, but I've lived in the Bay Area all my life and can't imagine living anywhere else! Where do you make $26/hour? I'm not sure how much LVN's make @ UCSF, but I know the RN's make around $45+, even as a new grad with night & weekend diff. from $1-$3. I was making $20/hr. as a secretary and @ Stanford $18/hr. as front desk. I'm hoping to go back as an LVN to make at least what you make @ 26/hr! And at Kaiser LVN's make anywhere from $18-$24/hr. and RN's $40-$50, even up to $70/hr. as what a Dr. from there told me the new RN's make at his clinic (Santa Theresa). Does your facility also offer tuition reimbursement? I would love to work and go to school while my work pays for it so I won't have to pay for it! =)

I think another big factor is The Union(labor). I lot of states do not have unions and there is no one to negotiate higher wages. I have to say that they are always talking about phasing us LVN out, but we all have to stick together.

Hi, everyone. I was wondering about how much LPNs make in New Jersey. I am also curious about starting salaries. The rents around here are expensive, and I have heard rates from $11-$25 per hour. Thanks!

About 8 months ago I was hired on for the baylor program about 45minutes away from home @ a LTC facility in Mississippi which paid $16/hr(First Nursing Job). I asked many people if I were being underpaid some said yes and some no. I work at that facility 2 weekends and had to return home. I now work at a LTC facility in my home town I can walk to work if I need to and the pay is $19.50/hr.(3-11 shift of course).

Pay in southern California in a snf is terrible. I started out making 14.00 an hour on the swing and noc shifts. LVNs do everything here except iv meds and messing with picc and central lines. It's terrible....A new admit will throw your med pass way off! I had 30 patients on the swing shift and 59 on the noc shift. I worked at another place for a short time and they started me at 17.00 an hour... I didn't have to admit people, but the care was horrendous there and I did not want any part of it.

wow thats frightening what part of southern ca do you live? are you in the city or some place more remote, I am going to school now in hopes of getting lpn but that is some scary info I live about 60 miles north of San diego.
