LPN -How to regain a registered status in the state of New York

U.S.A. New York

Published

Im posting this question to anyone. This LPN has been inactive for more than 5 years, infact in the recent LPN status, his status is considered "not registered"My questions are ,How can he change his status from not registered to registered base on New York Law?Can he still practice his profession? Is he eligible to take the NCLEX-R.N. He is even planning to re-locate in Florida can he practice in that state?

The person in question would need to contact the BON in NY to see what they need to do to get their license back.

A nurse with an LPN licensure cannot sit for the NCLEX-RN exam until they complete the reuqired coursework. The NCLEX-PN would have been done for them to have the LPN, unless it was so many years that they graduated from school.

Hope that this answers your question. :)

I highly suggest that this person get their license current in NY first, then they can endorse to NY. It will be much harder to try to get licensed in Florida without a current license if he had one in the past. There will be way too much paper work to do.
