Well so far I like it, I haven't started the core class's this happens in Jan. But basically the Gen ed class are either 4 or 5 weeks one night a week... Its not for everybody.

Bumping for more responses.....

Bumping for more responses.....

I too, wonder how this program works and how convenient it really is......I know it is very new so that is maybe why there aren't too many responses. I also wonder how clinicals work and what kind of spots UOP has at what hospitals?

I was curious because a friend of mine said she was doing the program and I was wondering how many others have completed or are in the program. I don't know where I am as far as nursing anymore. But the way I understand it it's really an LPN to Rn to BSN program. The LPN to RN part you go on campus and then RN to BSN can be done completely online.

Since I was the one who started this let me answer the questions..

First off, it hasn't been a problem, until you start your core class (the nursing class) you meet once a week for 4 hrs (6-10pm) for your Gen Ed class, remember this is undergrad degree, do you have take the Psy, Child Development and other Elective class. But of course this all changes with more class you bring in to U o P the less electivs you have to take.

Once you start your Core class then its once a week (this days is set until you graduate, my day is Tuesday) then you have a Sat Clinical. I wont know which hospital for my first rotation for another 4 weeks.

But basically its very structured, you work in teams, the elective class you will have people in many different type of disicplines which was great. But once you start your core class, then everybody will be a LPN. At first I didn't know what to think of team work, but everybody brings something different to the team, and its working out.

The first class is set to Graduate this May, they have revisied the program once already, and plan on doing it again this year. This program has been in Tucson for the past 3 yrs as well as other U o P campus. So far I like it, and granted, it may not be for everybody.. Yes, you have College Algebra, but the U o P REALLY wants you to pass, they have maths labs every Sat to help you as well as on Monday and Wed nights... Hey I passed it so anyone can !!!!

If you want more info, let me know, I'll give you the name and number of the person you need to contact and they can give you all info for you..

That isn't correct..

The LPN to BSN is completely Ground school, no on-line at all. Im in the core class's right now, and graduate March 2010 with my BSN.

U o P has a Rn to BSN program and that is completely on-line, but its a completely different programd.

Look at my other post, not all programs are for everybody, I like the U o P program, it fits well for me, I like the fact I have class once a week for 4 hrs and the team work is done via e-mail..

I spoke with two different counselors/advisors there and Jacki seems to be on the same page that you are. Another counselor mentioned that part of the program was ground and the remaining online. Either way Jacki seemed to be more concrete with my questions (just spoke with her). I hadn't even thought about UofP until a friend of mine mentioned and it's definitely another option for those that don't want to wait. I am suppose to be starting at the Maricopa Skill Center in Aug. It will be nice to know how your clinical go. Thanks for the info.

Jackie is great, she is my enrollment advisior, in fact at work they had an educational fair, and Jackie was there, I hadn't seen her in about 5 months. I have to say she is on top of it and if she doesn't know the answer (that is rare) she will get back to you with the correct answer.

Good luck with the Skills Center, I graduated from there 4 yrs ago this month (feb 04) let me know how things go there too, I do know that Skills Center does a clincal rotation at Maricopa Medical Center, do yourself a big fave, get into that clinical rotation, you will learn more then anyother hospital, the 4th and 6th floors LOVE you guys... How do I know this, I work there and we really do love having students there...

Yeah, she even sent me inforamtion by email while we were on the phone.

I hope it works out for me. I just keep doubting myself for some reason. I go back and forth everyday with do I have what it takes to be a nurse.

Here I was afraid of the County :lol2:....It's good to know there is a supportive environment there.

Keep the doubt, it will keep you grounded and focused. There are many people who will help, like I said, MMC there are lots of people who are willing to help, keep the faith !!
