Low GPA looking for schools

Nurses General Nursing

Hi, everyone.

I am new here. Hope you can help me out...

I'm studying BSN-second degree, right now im taking pre-requisite courses. My GPA so far is 3.0. I know it's low and i am so hopeless. :sniff:My school require GPA 3.8 to apply nursing program.

Is there anyone knows nursing schools that require lower GPA? Thanks for your help!!!

Might wanna try a ADN degree. I had a low GPA and could not get into our local 4 year school. However, due to a points system at the local community college (RN program, has a better rep and pass rate than the 4 year school) I was able to get in with a 2.73 gpa.

You can always go the online route later towards the bsn.

GPA is all about competion in my school. Although they say , they accept 2.5 , that never happens , it always been 3.6 or above. But just keep applying to te one with the Program, u never know you will get a chance. I am sorry that 3 GPA does not get you where you want, the truth is that is an impressive GPA!! Keep your head up!! You will get yours!!

I would keep an open- mind, try the ADN & traditional programs they tend to allow more students entrance and it's usually less stressful, not to mention they are more light on the g.p.a. It is my understanding the traditional BSN programs don;t have a waitlist. The ABSN programs are very competative, I had a 3.9 g.p.a. & I got denied admission for my first choice university, they only accepted 50 ppl & the 50 they accepted had above a 3.9 g.p.a. It is very competative, if u really want the ABSN try retaking some classes to boost ur g.p.a. Good Luck

I had what was considered low (3.0) as well. My advice, apply for any and all programs. I got into my dream private college on my first try with my 3.0!! I really believe my 2 essays (answer to their questions) is what got me in. I was an older student, newly single with 2 small kids, with a million crazy things going on in my present and past...but I felt it was my time to make my dream of college a reality - Although I was scared to death because I did not know how the heck I was going to do it. What I am trying to say is be positive and go for it. If something crazy is happening in your life that can help explain why your gpa may be a bit lower than others, explain it. I even put a note on my high school transcripts because during my senior year I really screwed up my grades due to a boyfriends suicide. Stay positive, think about your essays and put yourself out there. If I did it (with a C in physiology) anybody can. Maybe you can take some extra classes while you wait to get into a program that will help your gpa look better too (foreign language, medical terminology, etc).

good luck.

I have done a lot of research on various accelerated second-degree BSN programs I have only heard of one that says it will accept anyone who meets the minimum requirements ("Kramer School of Nursing accepts all applicants for the next available class who meet the criteria for admission to Oklahoma City University and to the Bachelor's-to-BSN program, and who meet the expectations listed in the Eligibility Statement.") that is Oklahoma City University, a private institution with a pretty hefty tuition, just over 54,000 for the 16 month program. They do have different scholarship opportunities and stuff. The basic requirements are pretty general for these programs, a 3.0, bachelors degree, Chem, A&P, Micro, and psych. According to their website "As many students are accepted as qualify". But as far as all of these programs go they are, as I am sure you know, very competitive. Not sure if it is anything you would be interested in or you would be able to relocate, but thought I would share that with you. Check out the website if so, http://www.okcu.edu/nursing/2bachmen.aspx
