Love my JOB!!! A new twist to the old story

Okay - so I've been through 4 jobs this year, and 5 since graduation in May of 2005. You know what? I can honestly say I LOVE MY JOB! The thing is. even though my job is stressful because I am responsible for actually creating policies and procedures (see: Non-state mandated....) I take care of 5 ladies, hopefully more soon! I have to discharge one lady d/t inability to walk without falls (we are not a medical facility). So I have quite a bit of stress as far as the management part of the job. But the work itself is so NOT stressful - only thing I miss is having other nurses to work with - yes I actually MISS that. I am the only nurse for the entire home. I have a backup I have never used - actually I took her position. I also sub for a school nurse several times a month which is a nice change of pace from my residential home job. I am going to have to pick up a couple of shifts a month agency though to be able to pay for my husbands health insurance (we haven't had insurance for me or the kids since March).

But I love what I do, and don't plan to change jobs. It helps that finally I have a job within reasonable distance to my home (every job prior to this one took over an hour to get to). My current main job is 4 blocks away and I live in a tiny town. So I'm thrilled with that. My sub-school nurse position is 15 minutes away. Thrilled with that. I swear it feels like - "I get PAID to do this?" It is a very nice feeling when you find something that fits.

I just thought the board needed a breath of fresh air with all the concerns of people hating nursing and such. I just want you to know that not all of us hate our jobs :) Love mine:1luvu:

God bless you....I am so happy that you've finally found your niche. I am going to be starting job number 4 (since graduation June 2005) on Monday. I hope I can post something similar to your own soon. Best of luck with the new gig girl!!! Keep us posted.

Persistence does pay off! I'm glad you're finding a place where you feel 'at home.'

Thanks all :) I really want people to see that you can be happy as a nurse.
