LOUD MOUTHED AMERICANS!!!!

What is going on? I have looked through many messages, and quite a lot of you are areguing about who is more qualified than the other! You seemed to have forgotten why you entered nursing in the first place. Is it any wonder that us british refer to the Americans as loud mouthed and brash?

Please aren't we all adults here? Between this subject and the SUZY K subject it sounds like a bunch of immature kids. I used to enjoy coming to this post but if this continues I won't be back. I have better things to do than hear a bunch of kids argue about something so insignificant. Let's be nice to each other. We are here to learn and encourage one another, not bash each others heads in.

Let me start by saying "thanks" to you guys for defending me in my absence..lol..as bad as nursing is, the only time I have time to read through here and reply is while I'm at work smile.gif

I am very proud to be American, and yes, was offended by the heading "Loud Mouthed Americans". My friends and coworkers accuse me of always seeing both sides of an issue, and this is simply what I was trying to get Lora to do. My intent was to say, "until you've walked a mile in our shoes..." So, ya'll were correct in that I meant no harm in my reply. As for Lora's reply to me..welllllll, being from the south, Alabama to be exact, let me point out that NOwhere did I use the word "slave" in my reply. As for forgetting I was a student, I started out in Central Supply, Mailroom, Purchasing, Unit Secretary and THEN worked my way through nursing school...soooooooo, I have never forgotten where I came from..

Lastly, could I request some help from my fellow nurses..to retrieve my head as lora suggested; Do I need a neurosurgeon or a proctologist??? smile.gif

and thankyou because I know I will make a good nurse, unlike others who forget they were students also. You are not right about the nurses in my country being slaves to the doctors. Maybe so years ago but not know.

The other me says thankyou. No I have never been to America. So why you ask can I make such harsh comments? I wish I had never done it. It was my first time looking at the posts and I couldn't believe what I saw. Constant bitching thats what I saw. Again, thank you Rick. You took the words right out of my fingers. I have yet to reply to a negative post such as the one initiated here, but I was amazed at the number of responses in such a short time-frame.

The following is not meant to be construed as offensive, mean-spirited, or whatever negative connotation may be applied.

First of all, this was post was initiated by a nursing student. The point is, while SOME nursing students (in this country) are given a small taste of what nursing is REALLY like, they are protected by a blanket of security through a small number of assignments and supervised actions. Thus, I know of no nursing student who could speak intelligently (from experience) of what it is truly like to be a RN or LPN for a number of years. (Although there are many student nurse techs and CNAs who do have a much better idea than those who have never worked in a hospital before).

Secondly, this post was initiated by a nursing student WHO HAS NEVER WORKED IN THE U.S. Thus, she hasn't the slightest clue about what people are "bitching" about. As my English friend (who has been an RN for 30+ years) told me a couple of years ago, nursing in the US is more than retrieving "a cup of hot tea and a warm wash cloth for the patient every morning". (Again, that is not meant to be offensive. I'm not pretending to know [or even care] what nursing is like in England).

The point is this: "Let it go". Of course you have every right to respond to every post in any way you desire, but why would dignify ignorance with a response? Is it not a waste of your time and energy? Let it die...let it die before it has a chance to take on a life of it's own wink.gif
