Lost ID now and Nclex in a week.

Published

Hi fellows. I just found out I lost my passport which is my only identification . I will taking my nclex rn in a week and I'm crazy thinking what to do. I have debit card visa which has my photo and signature and I read in Pearson vue I can use that but a credit card. I dunno if that's the same. I'm crazy thinking what will I do if I'll gonna renew my passport it will take forever cos I will get affidavit of lost and them renew which they say will take 8 wks. I scheduledy exam at the maximum validity so I can't do anything to adjust. Anyone encountered using credit card with photo as there identification? Thanks a lot .

So you scheduled your exam for the very last day of validity? I was gona say reschedule for one and then call PV about the debit card.

Yes. Last day cos I kept on rescheduling it. Will I call the PV center where I will take the exam? thanks

The only acceptable ID is a passport or state issued identification. In NO CIRCUMSTANCE is a bank issued debit card with or without a photo acceptable. There is too much room for counterfeit documentation.

Per NCSBN NCLEX FAQ:

The only acceptable forms of identification in test centers in the U.S. are:

U.S. driver's license (Department of Motor Vehicle-issued)(if expired, a renewal slip including a photograph and a signature must be presented in order to be admitted)

U.S. state identification (Department of Motor Vehicle-issued)

Passport

U.S. Military Identification

If you do not have a passport, state issued drivers/non-drivers license, or US military ID you forfeit the $200 and in your case must await a new ATT until you can reschedule.

Outside the US, only a government issued passport is acceptable identification

how long does it take to get an id card from city hall?

An ID card from city hall will not be accepted. Only a US state issued drivers license or non-drivers ID, US military ID, or passport are acceptable identification to sit for the NCLEX.

where do you go for the "state issued" ID card?

In my state you apply for a state ID at the DMV

State Department of motor vehicles or equivalent. You usually need PR or citizen status and a valid SSN, as non-citizens & non-permanent residents are not supposed to be issued drivers or non-drivers license state IDs per post-9/11 federal regulations.

The OP is neither a citizen nor legal permanent resident of the US (previously stated they are here on tourist visa) and therefore is not entitled to a state issued ID. Therefore they can only use a passport for ID. The OP should be well aware of the ID requirements and ATT deadlines as they stated this is their fifth attempt to pass the NCLEX.

Looks like you need to file a lost passport report and await the 8 weeks for a new one to be processed. It seems since you don't have acceptable ID and are scheduled for the last date of ATT validity you won't be able to sit the NCLEX and therefore forfeit the $200 fee. Since ATTs usually have a 90 day validity it would be prudent to wait until you have passport in possession before reapplying. In the mean time continue to study.

For real? But credit card as stated in Pearson vue primary id is there.. How unfortunate I am. This was my last chance to take exam in my state ..

My exam was the last day of my ATT validity and last chance to exam that why I'm worried.. Renewing a passport is too long. I have a xerox copy of my passport notarized. And I dunno if it will allow them since it's notarized .. That's why my only hope is my credit card with photo..
