still cant find a job...

how long? i dont know... i applied more than 50 no one got back to me yet, was thinking to apply through these agencies, but im not sure.... i need advise pls help

What part of the state are you in? You don't have to be specific (you can maintain your privacy), but the situation in NYC is much different from WNY, CNY, the North Country, etc.

i know thats what I heard :(

I have been a RN 21 years. My first job was in a nursing home for a year. I felt it a good place to start to get my feet wet. Then I worked for the State for 3 years, moved to another state and went to work for a large Hospital. I have worked many diverse areas since then and am back working with the State. Government jobs seem to have the best bennies. To be a travel nurse you must have 1-2 years recent experience. That can be something you can try in the future when you have worked in acute care. These sites are all ones I have gotten a job from. 1. Ihire nursing. There is a small fee. 2. Craiglslist. Yes, alot of homecare and nursing home jobs listed here. 3. Careerbuilder. I was hired to a hospital job here. Don't give up. Some hospital or other jobs will advertise and say "New Grads Welcome". Keep your eye open for that. And don't hesitate to call the facility and find out who is the hiring manager and speak with them. Or also stop by. I hope it helps. I find that when I apply to alot of places I don't here anything right away, then am flooded with people calling to get an interview. I just have started with the State of NC now. And I had already taken a new job, along with my home care one, but the state pays pretty good and benefits are awesome. Find a stepping stone job. Nurses are always in need. And aim toward what you feel is the area of nursing you think you would enjoy. If you don't, there are so many areas to try. The jobs will come.

il keep this in mind thank you so much!

Can you relocate to an area where there is a shortage of nurses, instead of trying to compete in a saturated area?

Specializes in HH, Peds, Rehab, Clinical.

Home health was my best paying RN position so far...

I found that applying to only select places can inhibit your chances and a agency will only hire you if you have previous experience. Have you thought about pediatric home health care? they are willing to train and take new grads. However, the pay might be low but at least you will be getting your foot in the door.

It appears from previous posts that you may have some problems with appropriate communication? And you have inappropriately attacked previous responders who took time to help you.

I had the same impression, sparkeepoo. Attacking members whose opinions you don't like is not a good sign. As a nurse, you can't call people names, and you'll have to deal with a lot of people (other nurses, doctors, patients, FAMILY MEMBERS) and they won't always be nice (basically the world is not sparkles and rainbows). Also, maybe having someone read over your resume/cover letter to proofread/correct grammar and spelling would be helpful. This is what my friend and I do for each other to make sure we haven't made any mistakes. It could be that you aren't getting calls for interviews because your application is not passing HR due to spelling/grammar issues. Hope this helps.

Perhaps your written communication skills are an issue? Are your resume and cover letters proofread to eliminate spelling, grammar and punctuation errors?
