Los Medanos College (LMC) ADN Fall 2024

Published

I am posting this for the students applying to LMC's Nursing program that starts in Fall of 2024. This is for everyone to meet, congregate, post statistics, and help one another in the application process.

The application opened on 1/3/24 and is set to close 2/2/24.

Good Luck Everyone!

I did my physical, CPR, waiting on drug screen clearance, and  still getting vaccines and boosters. I also was curious if there's a deadline, I am spreading out the boosters and vaccines. I react a little bit to each one sadly and I'm dreading getting COVID booster again. I have to plan for "sick" time for that just in case. I didn't have the best experience last time.

@leslie im not sure but I'd like to know as well. Did you guys receive an email saying they received your signed welcome letter?
Also, I paid the $120 for the background check and drug testing...does anyone know if the background check is completed by the american data website? Or do we need to go through an outside service for the background check?

Yes I got confirmation from [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] that I signed my welcome letter. The background check is through compilo and when I log in I see it was completed and meets requirements. If you didn't get the confirmation email, I'd email [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] tonight and follow-up with a call tomorrow to make sure there isn't a transmission error. I saw my ID on LMC's website for my acceptance but never got the email. I had to reach out to [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] and there were 5 people, including myself, who had a transmission error and the only way she knew was from us directly reaching out to her. I hope that helps!

Jen I was wondering if we needed to get another covid booster... the way it reads is really confusing. If we've had 3 total shots already do we need another?

I got three on Friday. Two updated boosters for mmr and hep b and my covid booster. Today is the first day without arm pain.

That's what I assume too. I submitted mine and am waiting for it to be approved. I just have the 2 main shots and the one booster.

I honestly am not sure!  It's doesn't explicitly state in the requirements. I guess we can submit what we have and see if it's approved or not. I prefer to not have to take it again based on the way I reacted to my initial 2 doses and booster. The 2 part TB test seems a bit much but that's going to take the longest to complete.

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone had their physical exam done at an urgent care center? I made an appointment with my primary doctor on July 17, but she has already rescheduled me twice.  I want to have a backup plan in case my doctor reschedules my appointment again.

Thank you.

I would call your urgent care to confirm. If it happens to be part of your PCP's network, I'd say maybe. Other portions could be another provider in the same office or go to a place like Concerta and pay out of pocket.

im sure you all saw we have til the end of the month to get this done.

also a COVID update, based on the convo we had I went ahead and submitted what I had, I figured worst case scenario it will be denied and I have to get another booster. I will let you know if my past 2 series vaccine plus 1 booster passes despite it being from so long ago!

I work for John Muir urgent care and we don't do physicals but Concentra might. I know STAT med does sports physicals so maybe check with them about school physicals.

I chose Chabot nursing program where I got accepted. I did my physicals and lab tests in progressive urgent care. Though they can send you to a location that is affiliated with there lab work. They did all the things. Was pretty good and free cause I have insurance. Concentra was about $900 so chose urgent care. Goodluck in your prep!

Thank you, everyone. I am reaching out to urgent care tomorrow. I have a TB test and physical exam left and I hope to complete them as soon as possible.

The COVID-19 vaccine requirement is not very clear. I submitted two series of vaccines plus one current vaccine but forgot to upload the booster. I am surprised that Complio still approved it. Since I had the booster a long time ago, I resubmitted it anyway.
