If you don't pass any exam with 75% you're kicked out of the program? How many students are left in your class if you don't mind me asking.

And also, do you or your classmates work while you're in school? If so, do you find it difficult to study

Specializes in ICU/CCU.

YES, They are thinking to increase the passing score to 78%.

There were about 40 students entering to the 1st semeter. Around 24-25 ppl made it to 2nd semester. 11 students made it to 4th semester without "being hold back."

I cannot speak for everyone. However, i did quit my job. Some of my classmates were working during 3rd semester.

Feel free to ask many questions. good luck

Wow, that's frightening! What's the best advice you would give an incoming student? And how often do you study? I've heard people say that all they do is study.

Any info on accreditation ? I read a post on here that the nursing classes do not transfer if you want to go to UC/Cal state schools ?

1/ First of all, the Registered Nursing Program at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College is approved by the CA Board of Registered Nursing.

http://www.rn.ca.gov/schools/passrates.shtml

This means the graduate is eligible to apply for the State Board of Registered Nursing Licensing Examination(NCLEX) once all nursing program and Associate in Science Degree requirements are satisfactorily met.

2/ 3 out of 9 LA District Community Colleges have been approved by NLN. Most schools require it for future education. Most employers prefer it and some require it. It is one mark of quality in a school, though not the only one. In theory it means the school is "above average." Only half of the schools can be above average. There are some crappy schools that are accredited. Some excellent programs do not even care about that (Pasadena City College, Rio Hondo, County, ...)

http://www.acenursing.net/accreditedprograms/directorysearch.asp

3/ You are able to transfer some credits to CSU later.

INTRODUCTION TO NURSING (CSU)

FUNDAMENTALS OF NURSING (CSU)

NURSING COMMUNICATION (CSU)

MEDICAL-SURGICAL NURSING I (CSU)

MEDICAL-SURGICAL NURSING II (CSU)

MEDICAL-SURGICAL NURSING III (CSU)

4/ ALL CAL STATE UNIVERSITIES (RN-BSN) CONSIDER TRANSFERRED STUDENTS FROM LATTC.

The RN program is no joke and nothing you have experienced in school before. this has prepared you for what you endure. I suggest if you are not good at learning on your own then do not even attempt this program. Reach out and always ask the professors if you need helps. Attending to a school with high NCLEX passing rate does not make you (without all your efforts and time) pass the board test and get your lisence.

Hard work and perseverance are the ONLY things that will get you through this program!

Buspar

Thanks for the post, that's a lot of great info now I know what to look for when applying. :)

What do you want to know bout this program? I'm currently last semester student at Lattc

I am starting the RN program Fall 2013 (a month from today) any tips on what to do and what not to do in the program? I'm pretty nervous but I am prepared for hard work because this is what I've wanted my entire life and I also want to show the professors how dedicated I am about nursing. Also any major study tips that helped you out a lot? Were your clinicals all in one hospital? I appreciate it and all of the other info you gave helped me as well.

Do:

-Group Study with max of 4 ppl.

-Read the lecture power-points first, then go back to the textbook and read it in details to understand more. (Specially the small boxes, tables..)

-Practice the Fundemental ATI , ATI , ATI (read the rationales) ... in order to get used to with how nursing questions are.

-Ask the 2nd, 3rd, 4th semester students what to expect.

-Be nice to everyone because who knows they may help you out.

-Email or call in to set up an appt to talk to instructors (I did this, i read that, ... show them you are really into nursing, and you will work really hard to survive in nursing school) about what to expect for the test or if you have any question about the lecture.

-Be prepare for clinical before going to hospital.

-Help your friends when they need if u can.

IMPORTANT: have your monthly schedules and stick with that (study, laundry...) BE ORGANIZED !

Don't :

- argue with instructors even if sometimes they say something that you don't agree or not in the textbook. (call in or email them to verify instead of talking back in the class)

- stay away from drama

- say " I passed" or " I didnt make it" or " no comment" if being asked about the test results. STAY AWAY FROM DRAMA. ppl are sometimes nosy. I never asked ppl's test results if they didnt tell me.

- procrastinate...

Goodluck :)
