If you don't mind me asking, what was the reason you transferred? Did they give you admission priority because you were previously enrolled in another program?

Yes, my mentor is a nurse and a former instructor at another nursing school. I am attending class 3 days a week and clinicals 2 days a week so the only days I have off are Saturday and Sunday. Classes start at 8 am and clinicals at 7 am. By the time I get home, I am mentally drained. My school does not allow us to record lectures so I can't even study while I am driving home. Another thing that is bothering me is that the BRN is currently investigating the school, so that's not a good sign. I'm not sure I'm trying to get out of the school because of the commute, or the schools reputation. I would say both. I have looked in to a couple schools that are closer to my home and have begun the process of possibly transferring in or even doing my first semester over.

Hello all, I need some advice. I'm currently in my first semester of an ADN program and I'm feeling burned out. I can manage the material and I am passing all of my classes. My dilemma is that I live about an hour away from my school and the drive is taking a toll on me. Some days, I get out of class late and I do not get home until around 8 pm. After being at school all day and stuck in traffic, once I get home, I am too tired to do anything. In really feel as if the commute is interfering with my ability to study, sleep, and even eat. I have a mentor who has suggested that I look in to transferring into other nursing programs that are closer to home. Has anyone been successful in transferring into another program. Or does anyone know someone who has? I really want to be a nurse, but I don't know if I will be able to succeed at this particular school. Any advice is welcome.

Wow, that's frightening! What's the best advice you would give an incoming student? And how often do you study? I've heard people say that all they do is study.

And also, do you or your classmates work while you're in school? If so, do you find it difficult to study

If you don't pass any exam with 75% you're kicked out of the program? How many students are left in your class if you don't mind me asking.

@buspar I have some questions too.. there is a high rate of drops for first semester students? Is it mostly due to failing grades? Are the teachers strict? I'm starting in the fall and I'm not sure what to expect. How's your social life? Lol. I know a lot of people say there is no social life during nursing school so I'd like to hear your opinion about it. Also, do you feel confident that LATTC has taught you what you need to know in order to pass the NCLEX and become a successful nurse?

Hello all, I am starting nursing school this upcoming fall, and I really don't know what to expect. I always read a lot of posts on this site, and it seems like nursing school will be hell. I know it's a lot of hard work, but what kind of assignments are given? I mean, reading assignments are obvious, but what else? I'd like to say I'm pretty good with managing my time. Can anyone share what kind of assignments they've had? By the way, I will be entering an ADN program. Thanks in advance!!

You should be able to use Mt sacs pre reqs. But some schools want you to have a certain amount of units of the sciences so you might have to take anatomy 35 & 36 instead of 10a & 10b but it all depends on the school. You might want to check the particular school you are looking at and see how many units they want. Also, Mt sacs program is closed for applying right now until they exhaust their wait list. After then, they will be going off of a point system. I heard they won't be opening up for applications until probably next year, but that gives you enough time to finish your sciences.

Hi I just saw this post too! Unfortunately, I didn't apply in time for this spring, but I applied for 2013 and they pretty much said I'm in! How do you like the program so far?

Anyone here in the nursing program at LATTC? Just wondering if anyone could review it for me, i've heard a couple of mixed reviews on it and I know that the passing rates have not been too high over the last couple of years but they are on the rise. Any input is appeciated! Thanks.
