Any one here graduates of the program? Or are in the program?
Several graduates from lacc stated that they were ill prepared for work, but on the other hand getting accepted to ANY SCHOOL at the moment is awesome and a joyous event.
Try going to Board of Registered Nursing - NCLEX Pass Rates and check out LACC's passrate compared to LA County's.
LA County = 91% , 95%
LA CC = 66% , 86% (very inconsistent compared to LA County)
That 66% passrate for the NCLEX says a lot about a school...
Nursebrooks,I think you should definitely call county! you said it starts in 2 weeks this monday! and trust me i thought the same thing about them not letting me in cuz i bug too much but really it comes down to a certain point cut off and if your there then theres nothing they can do even if they dont like you lol....right??
let us know how it goes!

o ya... just called county.. for us two year programees they said they wont be sending out letters till July! i swear im gonna go craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazyy!!!!!!!!!
Iliana,
I can't believe that we have to wait until JULY to find out! You mentioned before that your sister graduated from LA County. Could you share with me what her experiences with the school both good and bad?
I got accepted to LACC but I am waiting to decide based on whether I get accepted to County or not. I have to let LACC know by next week if I am going to accept the position there.
I hope that we hear good news from the County soon.
All the best...
Tigertjc,
Wow! That is a huge difference. I really appreciate your information. I have heard that a friend of a friend is currently in LACC program and that person said that he/she is not getting much out of the lectures and he/she has to get bunch of NCLEX books and study on their own to pass the class. I think that they were saying that they were not being taught well.
I understand that we have to be self-starters and be self-motivated to pass the program but it would be helpful if I can receive a good education that I can build my foundation and learn from. I didn't know if what is supposely happening in LACC is pretty much same for most of 2 year programs including LA County.
LACC is a little less cost than County but I wish to go to a school that I can get a good education and training from.
sup1, if i were you i'd just accept it and try to back out if la county sends you an acceptance letter. ask lacc what the repercussions are for backing out at the last minute (i doubt there is one).
Glendale Community Colleges allows you back out even though you already sent in a letter of intent. It doesn't hurt to ask... Just make sure you call on a Private # and don't tell them your name! hang up if they ask! lol
p.s. iliana, i just got accepted to a closer school, so i hope if anything... my spot goes to you!
Tigertjc,
It seems like that alot of do similar things. I use my private # also. (haha!) I have called LACC so many times that I seriously think they recognize my voice. I may have to try to disguise my voice or have my boyfriend call. It's crazy all the things we have to do so that we don't want to be known as the annoying applicants.
Sup1,
Hahahahaha i have my boyfriend call for me too sometimes so a guys voice will really throw them off and im like ask this but ask that! lol and ya like u said my sister did graduate from county and had lots and lots of good things to say thats why i applied there and only there.. but keep in mind my sisters been a nurse already for about 5 years which means she went to county about 7 years ago so im sure, but hoping not, that things have changed. But even in recent years ive talked to people who all have vouched that at county you see, leran, and experience things that others from other programs didnt. Some people say recently at county theres been alot of instances where you have to teach yourself but really i dont care get over it teach yourself. do what you need to do and dont rely on other people. its the real world and everything isnt gonna be hand to us that easy. But like tiger said if you look at passing rates at county it was 95%..that should tell you something.. im sure there wouldnt be a 95% passing rate if everyone had to teach themselves.. hope i kinda helped you get some kind of insight on county! :)
Tiger!

Hello Everyone,
I got accepted to LACC early May and I am also waiting for LA County to see what that cut off point is?
Do any of you know how LA County is compared to LACC? I really do not have any clue how LA County is.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone can comment about LA County. Thanks and best wishes...
