Published

This is for those of us that will be applying to LA county college of nursing and allied health's fall 2014 semester. I will be submitting my application for the basic RN program tomorrow... Yayyy!!! I am beyond excited, I can't believe this time has finally come!

All of your post have made my day! Bring back so many memories.... I'm proud to say I'M A COUNTY GRAD!

I graduated May 23, 2012, and have to confess that after graduating from this program I know I can do ANYTHING! I have to warn you all: It WILL be the hardest thing you'll ever do voluntarly, however, going thru this program will change your life.

THE MOST EXCITING TWO YEARS OF MY LIFE!

Hi Dragonfly! You asked me to tell you about my friend's status with LAVC, she told me that she got in :-). I guess they started notifying people

Congratulations on graduating from County!!! Thank you for dropping in and sharing a little of your experience with us newbies :) are you currently working as an RN? Did you feel prepared after graduating? Do you have any advice for us?

Thanks again!

Smylee: I moved to Illinois after graduation, now I'm working as a Mes-Surg RN in one of the busiest hospitals in Chicago. School can't realy fully prepare you for what comes after NCLEX; however, I'm soooo grateful for the amazing clinical experience I got at County. Even people here in the midwest know about it. The clinical instructors- from 3rd and 4rd semester WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE HELL. But now I know why and I'm glad they were though. I do really believe there's no better place to become a Nurse than in LA County CN!

Thank you for posting! Would you mind sharing your experience? Any words of advice?

I don't exactly know how to start with that. In my opinion, I love county.. it's such a small campus, so everyone is pretty much tight knit. The instructors are great and they really try to help you succeed. I don't think that the curriculum is hard, as far as tests but they have A LOT of work. Just be prepared to come in and not have a life. Honestly. A lot of my classmates did not have a job during the program, and some have part time jobs here and there. I, on the other hand.. had to work full time while in school. It was tough, manageable, but tough! Be prepared to devote your whole time in studying and practicing skills! The good thing about county is that we have hands on experience with REAL patients. Some schools rely a lot on simulation as their clinicals, so that's one thing I love about the school. That's pretty much it! I mean just really study, manage your time.. have a calendar and plan down every due date and tests. Plan ahead! You guys will LOVE county, I am so excited for all of you! You picked an amazing school to get your RN. :)

Thank you again! I'm very excited to start in August. I have already told my husband and kids to be prepared for me not to have a life and I've informed them how intense the

Program is, so not to expect anything from me for the next two years :) where do you do your clinicals? How are the patients?

So guys after a long talk with my family and getting input from some of my friends, I am happy to say that I have decided to join you all for Fall 2014! See you guys friday!
