Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health ADN Program Fall 2022

Hello my fellow applicants!

I'm a second time applicant to LACCONAH, I've been down this road once and came back with a lot of knowledge. From my experience this is going to be a waiting game so enjoy the ride! Y'all got questions, comments, concerns, information, don't be shy to engage. Estamos juntos en esto!

I think this interviewer is just burnt out. She had no facial expressions and seemed annoyed at everything we did. They paired us into groups of two for the interview and both of us were back in the classroom and we waited there in silence for like ten minutes until everyone else got back from their interviews. After the we were dismissed I asked three other people about their experience and they all said they kept talking until their time was up, LOL. So I guess its just a hit or miss with the people conducting the interviews.

I had one of the other philipino ladies. She took us into a computer room. And we did the skills part with my partner and then she pulled us separately to ask us the questions. She let us talk and everything. I though I had done very well. I was so sure I had gotten at least 4pts of not the full 5. In the beginning the also made us feel like, “don't worry is not a big deal you guys all have good points. This is just a quick interview to get to know you and see how you guys work together” etc  ? I shouldve known ?

My interviewer was the last interviewer. I think she was the 7th one? She was really nice and I believe she graduated in LA CCONAH too. So sorry your interviewers weren’t nice. That seems really unfair.

At this point , there is not much we can do because the school made the final decision for the selection of the students.

So I got my rejection letter and it states if you want to be considered for the next cohort you have to submit "a letter indicating you want to be considered for Spring 2023".

I'm gonna email them tomorrow because I have no idea what to put on this letter. Like, is it like a statement of purpose letter? Or literally a letter with a couple of sentences stating you want to be considered again for the next cohort?

Oh no, I’m sorry. I’m thinking that if ppl had the same amount of points, they PROBABLY do lottery or something. That’s what other programs do. If three ppl had 88 points or something, they would just pick randomly.
However, I don’t really know for sure for LA CCONAH.

I think it states if you want to be consider to reply back with the dead line and submit Information needed

This was my second time applying. The last time I didn't make it in because I had not completed my speech requirement. I had a speech class but not the right one. When I reapplied I submitted  a letter along with my updated transcripts. Just stating that I wanted to he considered for the fall 2022 application period. It was nothing crazy just a letter of your intention to reapply. Then I called a few days later to make sure they received it. And you will see the semester your applying for change on the portal under the application you previously submitted.

Yeah im so confused about the whole pts. I thought interviews would get you 1 to 5 pts. It seems like you either got the 5 or you got none from what im seeing from other peoples responses.

That really sucks, I’m sorry ? I would be really bummed too if I knew I had a decent amount of points and didn’t get in & even more so if I didn’t have a fair interview...I’m sorry about your experience with the interviewers. I would’ve called them and fought for a redo because I was cut off and wasn’t able to give my reasoning & felt as though it wasn’t a fair shot.. But that’s me ?
Don’t give up guys!

Did you have to fill out an application again on the portal? Or was the information just carried over?

it carries over ,  you just submit a letter stating you want to roll over

Thanks! Hopefully next time we will have better luck. Or maybe this was not meant to be and we will be accepted somewhere else. Im going to just stay positive. Honestly I pretty much cried when I didn't get accepted. I was so confident I had it, that when I got nothing in my email it took me by suprise. ? I got discouraged for a bit but im back to a more motivated state. Hopefully soon I will find the right program for me, or the program where I am meant to be in.

No everything just carried over. They change on there end the semester your applying for. All they need from you is your updated transcripts if any, and your letter stating you want to be considered for the next application cycle.

Yes I believe that there is something great for you guys. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. I believe that we will end up in a place where we’re meant to be.

I remember trying to enter a public LVN program when I was 20 and I kept getting rejected (4 times.) I thought it was so unfair. But I think to myself now that maybe I was meant to finish my pre reqs and apply for RN directly.

Please don’t give up guys, I understand how discouraging it is. I hope you guys never stop trying, because I believe that you will all be great nurses one day.
