I am loosing hope....it's fading in the distance. I graduated Nursing School in Dec 2002. I took the boards 4x's and finally passed them in Aug 2009. In betweeen I was teaching Health at a high school. I finally secured a position at a SNF, but I was laid off. Now it seems no recruiter or HR person is interested in hiring me since I'm an OLD GRAD!! At this point, I don't know what to do!! It's like you work so hard and life happens, things we can't control and you end up paying for it in the end....UNEMPLOYED. I did got to school and became a licensed esthetician, so I'm working at a waxing facility, but I AM A NURSE... A REGISTERED NURSE AT THAT!!!

I am determined and I will keep applying and praying that someone can see that I am a hard worker and that Nursing is my passion. Any suggestions??

I hope you get something soon. I am a new RN and I do not have a job.

Well lets see...I have heard this so often. I am a new grad LPN at that. I am older as well some of my classmates were 20-25 years younger than me. All I can tell you is never give up. There is always hope!!:redpinkhe Keep pressing on....I will keep you in my prayers....

Have you tried taking a refresher course? I think it would be a good thing to show potential employers that you've refreshed your skills. Don't give up! Good luck.

Actually LunahRN, I am in the process of moving to Atlanta, GA and they offer a refresher course at Kennesaw State University. I e-mailed the director so i'm waiting on response. That was my next step. So yes, that was my next course of action. Thanks for the suggestion. It's just so hard when you have no income coming in. And I don't want to settle.

You could also volunteer at a non-profit community clinic. It would not be a paid position...but you will get nursing experience that you can add to your resume...plus who knows who you will meet at a community clinic. Nursing is all about networking. I personally volunteer 1 day a week at a local community clinic. It has been great experience I meet a lot of other nurses, NP, and MDs. I know there are quite a few in the Metro Atlanta area.

Good Luck!
