I've taken the NCLEX RN twice now with no success. I am in desperate need of advice on how to be successful my third time around. I live in the Palm Beach County area and was wondering if there was anybody that could assist me. Please respond if you have any thoughts or ideas.

I helped a friend of mine passed the exam.

I will tell you right here what I told her...........

get all distractors away from you and just focus on that test. Take at least 4 weeks to just sit and study those books.

Take a review class, not kaplan since you took it twice already, I would suggest something like "Hurst review" or "Helen Feuer".... and take it as a live review, not a CD or online.

Take any book that has NCLEX-RN questions in it, and do all the questions min. 2x. EVERY DAY you have to do that, practice your questions, and do your reading no matter what.

you can do it, you passed nursing school, so you are definitely capable of doing this.

someone please tell me, how can i study for pharmacology for nclex

thanks

Hurst review= is a live review/online video of content, they go over material that you need to know for the exam.

Helen Feuer= is a live review/home study cd's of content--- with booklets of materials that you have to read and booklets of practice questions based on the content booklets.

Kaplan= live/online, they go over questions and break it down into each step so you find the right answer.

what did you study these two times that you studied for the test? (just wondering).

ok, when you did kaplan, you only did the questions??

kaplan is great, because you can watch the content videos for information, and do the questions. but i would do the live review instead of the online review---with the live review you get everything including the online stuff.

i watched the videos 2x, and the pharm 3x and my scores improved a whole lot. i would repeat everythig over and over-----and i took the entire 3 months of the program to study, and soon after it was over i took my test.

plus- i listened to helen feuer audio content in the car & also at home when i was sick of kaplan.

are you a visual learner?

how did you study in the past?

how many hours did you spent per day studying for nclex?

do you get distracted easily??

:redpinkhe Thanks.

never heard anyone take the martin review.

I hear that helen feuer is really good-- even their home study program. I know it's $$ but if you are dedicated, and you study well on your own, you could make it possible.

There are people who think that helen is better than kaplan-- I don't know because I did both.

dear bumblebeern,

the first thing, i should say "much appreciated. thank you." you give me a lot of specific advice, and i really need it.

i would like to tell you more about my background. i am a foreign nurse. in my country, i have been worked in picu (pediatric), sicu for nine years, and emergency two years.

in 1999, i took the nclex-rn exam in la. total is 75 question, then i passed. but i back to my country, so i didn't keep update that license every year. so i need re-take nclex-rn exam.

i did kaplan on july, 2008. i prepared for three months, and then take the nclex-rn exam. now the kaplan's online course is still available, because after i failed the exam, i already update again.

yes, i agree with you. i also feel kaplan is really good. as just like last time i posted, i told you, in my last exam, when i was taking the exam, i felt more comfortable, which mean i felt the same topic didn't show more one time. but "when i received the exam result, i was still not passing, and in exam result, there are have eight items that are show near the passing standard. be honest, i really don't know why."

i am not only did for kaplan' question. i watched all of videos, such as, 1, international nursing seminars,2, how to approach the exam, 3, review of content, 4, review of question, 5, video clips, 6, readiness test question review.

be honest, my study schedule was watch the video, then did 200 questions every day in last three months.

now i still watch the video "review of content," everyday. but you are right. after i got the result is failed, i think that i lost confidence for kaplan.

yes, you are right. i did the material is online review; i didn't go to take a live review. after i got your advice, i decide that i am going to take one live review.

sorry, please teach me: on your posted, what does it mean "[color=#6600ff]pharm 3x"?

you are also smart. i was not distracted easily person. in the past experience, i took the rn license only one time in my country, even ten year ago in usa. i was so confidence. but recently, which mean, after i got the failed result in second time, i lost energy. it's difficult to let myself to concentrate. for every material, i felt that i already very familiar. for the exam's result are "near the passing standard" in all of eight items. i also felt that seem i lost a direction.

you also ask me for how many hours did i spent per day studying for nclex.

be honest, i didn't work. i was at home to do my study schedule. i was watch the video, then did 200 questions every day in last three months. i can say almost ten hours per day. haha, i am so embarrassed to tell you that i worked so hard, because i still can not pass.

be honest, my family give me a lot of stress. they can not accept that i passed the exam ten years ago, but now i can not pass it again. i am so stressful.

if you still could give me any advise, thanks, i really need it.

could i also ask you one more question? could you share to me how do you prepare "pharmacology"? you told me that you used kaplan and helen review course, but i felt that "pharmacology" in kaplan is not really good.

thanks so much.:yeah:

never heard anyone take the martin review.

I hear that helen feuer is really good-- even their home study program. I know it's $$ but if you are dedicated, and you study well on your own, you could make it possible.

There are people who think that helen is better than kaplan-- I don't know because I did both.

so does it mean that helen feuer review is really goood?? and they said in there web site that they keep their materials updated too... is this enough for review or do i still have to reas other books? or just questions from other books?

thanks. :wink2::wink2::wink2:
