PROS: Beautiful weather in the winter...
CONS: Hurricanes and the snowbirds in the winter
Very culturally diverse--can be expensive coming from Midwest...but comparable coming from NJ/NY/East Coast.
good luck!
Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas: an RN with 7 years would earn between $27 and $30 per hour at most major hospitals in the area. A house in a decent area would cost about $150,000. A 2-bedroom apartment would rent for $600 to $1000 monthly, depending on how fancy you want to get.
Oklahoma City, OK: an RN with 7 years experience would earn about $25 at most major hospitals. A house in a decent area would cost about $120,000. A 2-bedroom apartment would rent for $550 monthly.
I live in the Seattle area, just 15 minutes outside of Seattle. Have been here from Texas about 4 years. Love it here. Most of the nurses are union, salaries are good but housing costs are high here. Beautiful in the summer, overcast in the winter. The area is beautiful and the weather is actually usually very nice. It does not rain here all the time and in fact in the summer it never rains at all (we are currently in a drought).
I used to live in Houston. Lots of hospitals in that area in the Texas Medical Center and in the outlying areas around Houston. Lots of traffic however. Great hospitals to work for there.
What is your area of interest in nursing. Send me a private email and I can give you more scoop on either area if you are interested. Good Luck
I AM CURRENTLY RESIDING IN NJ AND AM LOOKING TO RELOCATE OUT OF STATE BUT DO NOT KNOW THE FIRST THING TO DO, ESPECIALLY REGARDING NURSING SALARIES, COST OF LIVING, ETC.I DON'T CARE WHAT STATE YOU ARE FROM, ANY INPUT ABOUT WHAT STATE YOU LIVE IN, ESTIMATED NURSING SALARIES, IF THEY PAY FOR NATIONAL ANCC CERTIFICATION, BSN DIFFERENTIAL AND GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR ARE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
