Looking for a nurse to interview

Published

Hello, I'm currently a pre-nursing student. We have two full years (60 units) of prerequisites for the two year ADN program I am applying to in May. I'm almost there! I'm currently enrolled in a nursing guidance course where our major assignment is to interview a nurse. I would really appreciate anyone willing to volunteer to respond to my questions. I can e-mail them to you and give you a couple of days to respond. I appreciate your help with this! I am so excited to attend nursing school. Please respond or message me if you can with your e-mail address so I can e-mail you the questions. Thank you!!!

I think the point of this assignment is to interview a nurse in person. This is the Internet and there is no way to verify who anyone says they are.

Have you tried contacting local hospitals to see about interviewing a nurse in person? Surely your school must have given you some guidance on how to/where to approach this interview.

Just because someone's user name is RN or nurse something doesn't mean they are the real deal. Could be Joe Schmoe from up the street. If you really want to make sure you get genuine results...I would attempt to do this in person at a local hospital.

Maybe even try to interview someone off of the nursing faculty at your school...best wishes.

I'm an RN. You can PM me if you like.

Sassenach .....Welcome!

These assignments are to get you off the internet and INTO THE PUBLIC. Outside your comfort zone. The interview process is a very important part of the nursing assessment. We have to ask strangers every day intimate questions and expect them to answer us.

Here are a few suggestions....go to your local school system. The school nurses are usually very glad to give you a brief moment of their time. GO to your PCP and ask the office nurse (if they have one.....be sure it is a LPN or RN and NOT a MA). GO to CVS or other urgent care/minute clinics...a red cross blood drive, a local flu clinic or health board.

Good Luck!

OMG I love your screen name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is all.

Thank you everyone for such kind words. My class is taught by the director of our nursing program. I don't know why but she doesn't care if we do an in person interview, a phone interview, or an e-mail interview. It's a half-unit nursing guidance course. I'm not in nursing school yet. We were even given a list of questions. We don't even have to come up with them ourselves. (Sad, right?) Also, why would someone volunteer to answer questions like, "why is evidenced-based practice important in nursing?" if they weren't an RN? So I'll go and find an RN to interview in person next year when I'm a nursing student. For now, I'm perfectly happy with this method. Thanks!

Absolutely!! I've been a fan for so many years! I even had the opportunity to go to her release party for the last book, meet her, and pick her brain!
