Looking for info on Angelina College (Lufkin, TX)

U.S.A. Texas

I am planning on attending Angelina Jr. College beginning in January. I am looking to connect with any future, current or recent grads of this school. I am about to take the Accuplacer test and am afraid that I will bomb the math portion as it has been 35 years since I had any math (I'm just now deciding what to do with my life at age 49 and holding!:D). How much higher level algebra does the Accuplacer have on it, or is it more just basic math (fractions, decimels, etc.)?

Any info is appreciated!

Hello, I am (hopefully) going to start the LVN program in the Spring 2010. I just finished taking the HESI A2 test and if it's anything similar to what is on the accuplacer then it's general math. Nothing too bad, study up on fractions, ratios, conversions, and roman numerals. Like I said, I don't know if it's like the HESI, but you do have to take the HESI to get into the nursing program. Good luck with everything!!

Thanks, Williams! I've been studying math like a fiend for the past month. I hope to start NP in fall 2010.

Where are you going to school? Good luck with your studies as well. :)

Angelina College is where I hope to be starting in Jan 2010. It's the LVN program. It's a one year program. Good luck to you and if you need any help just give me a shout.

I graduated the AC LVN program back in December. It was a pretty good experience. Nursing school is tough by any standard (be prepared to know your' classmates better than your own family for a year), but Mrs. Blades and Mrs. Howard made it much better. They actually care and try to help you out. Don't fret over the math. You'll do Dosage Cal every semester, but they'll work with you over that. It's just basic algebra. Like Order: 650 Tylenol, you have 2 tabs of 325, how much do ya give? Or An IV of 1000ml needs to go over 12 hours, how many mls per hour?

It'll be alright. If you get the Lufkin campus, you'll do great. It's gonna rough for a year, but in December, when you get pinned, it's all worth it. I questioned myself several times, but now that I'm working as a LVN, I love it.
