Looking 4 imfo on Nursing in Alaska

Published

Hi. i am a nurse from Perth who is interested in working in Alaska. If anyone has any imformation regarding requirments to do so it would be much appriciated.

Thank 4 ure time!:rotfl:  :coollook:

You would have to complete the same requirements to work in Alaska, as any other state. You are required to complete the CGFNS exam, NCLEX exam, and the Visa Screen process. If you trained in Australia, then your English testing would be waived. The earliest that you will be able to take the CGFNS exam is November, 2004. It is given only three times per year and the cut-off was this past week for the July exam.

The website for CGFNS is http://www.CGFNS.org. You can download both applications from this site, for the exam, as well as Visa Screen. If you go to Alaska's Board of Nursing website, you should be able to download the appropriate forms that you need. You will have to submit an application to them, then be accepted by them to sit for the NCLEX exam. Do not register for the exam until you have received a letter from the Alaska BON.

NCLEX exam is currently only given in the US and its possessions. You will be able to take the exam in either Saipan or Guam, if you prefer. You can actually sit for the exam in any state, it doesn't have to be Alaska.

Hope that this helps. :balloons:

Passing NCLEX doesn't mean things are waivered when applying to a new state. Check out what requirements the state has and if in doubt ask them. Saying that NCLEX is a national exam so as long as you meet requirements you shouldn't have to repeat it
