Looking into Excelsior

Nursing Students Excelsior

I see a lot of positive threads. I know it's exam based but what about clinicals, where do you do them? At work or do they send you somewhere?

This. 1/3 is NOT 61%. That is A LOT of work to do to pass the CPNE. Congrats though. The more I think about it I don't think EC is right for me. I would rather do clinicals than something like that!

But this 1/3 is not going to be at every site every weekend. Extrapolating one student's experience to be everyone's experience is statistically flawed and creates needless drama. But hey, people can believe what they'd like!

From what I've read about the CPNE it is common for no more than only 3 to pass.

Once more: the pass rate cannot be derived from conjecture. The overall pass rate is 61%, not the pass rate at each site. Trust me on this. I started with EC in 2006 and I have read a lot of CPNE stories over the last 7 years. ;)

Although my group only passed 2 out of 6, I have read online accounts about 5:6 or 6:7 passing!

Excelsior isn't for the faint hearted or unsure. If you feel you need clinicals that's ok. Find a school that feels right to you. Good luck in your pursuit. :)

I think with my recent diagnosis of bipolar, EC would no be a good fit for me.

Only you can make the decision whether an independent learning exam based program is best for you. For some candidates Excelsior is the best choice. For other prospective students an in classroom experience with traditional clinical rotations and in person support is the best educational option.

Knowing yourself well enough to make the best decision before enrolling is always a bright idea. Good luck in your educational endeavors.

It's not that I have a problem with. I have no problem with online testing, that's not the issue for me. It's the CPNE, I think it would exacerbate my bipolar. If EC had clinicals I would sign up yesterday.

My point is that if you know that any component of EC's program would be such a barrier it could exacerbate a medical condition it is good that you are self aware enough to come to the conclusion that the EC program is not the best choice for you. You seem to have made this decision prior to applying and enrolling in the program. You can seek out other viable options to pursue your educational goals.

Not every program fits every students needs. Those that figure this out early on are ahead of the curve

Yeah. I will be taking the TEAS test & applying to the community college in my town. Hope I get in! :) Good luck to everyone enrolled in EC!

Lol. Yikes! Well I'm sorry it didn't work out with EC. I hope it works out better with the community college.

Why do you say this? I'm curious.
