Hello,

I'm new to this site and very excited about starting the LPN program this Fall at Brown Mackie. Just wondering if I can get information from anyone that attended their program.

Can anyone tell me how difficult Fundamentals I is...heard it's really tough...true or false???

Welcome to allnurses.com! I moved your post to the appropriate Forum.

Good luck!

HI, I graduated from Brown Mackie may of 2005 from the Michigan City location....I don't want to discourage anyone but I recieved my Associates in Medical Assisting and I'm glad I did but on the other hand I wish I hadn't wated my time...I am getting ready to start PNC in Jan07'. Nothing is transferrable. I am gong for my BSN in RN and then hopefully to CRNA school. I had a very good teacher in regards to the medical aspect, everyone is nice but I was discouraged while going at how "HIgh School" like it was...it didn't seem like a regular college and every class was way to easy and in my instance it seemed like everyone got A's weather you tried, attended class or whatever...everyone gets into the school there is no kind of admission process the school is a for profit school and looking back it seems lie a joke. On the other hand I am working as a medical assistant, I did get my foot in the door and now I think I have a better understanding of what I really want to do as far as my profession goes. I guess you just need to be confident to suceed b/c the students that "just got by" are not any better then they were prior to attending brown mackie. I can tell you that I recieved all A's and 2 B's and earned many awards as well as having an article published in the american medical associtaion news letter. I think I tried to over achieve b/c the classes at brown mackie besides the medical classes were not very rewarding. Make sure you talk to everyone you can re: this school and hopefully you will make the right decision...Good Luck! tma.

I was looking at going to Brown Mackie in South Bend but after reading some awful things and then hearing from people who went there I changed my mind. First of all it is awfully expensive, almost double what Ivy Techs tuition is. Also, the credits are not transferable. I talked with a nurse who had worked with a graduate from Brown Mackie and she said that the graduate had almost no clue what she was doing. After reading the above post about the classes there being very easy it makes you wonder how useful of an education you are getting for the high price you are paying. Anyway, I too am going to take my chances at Ivy Tech.:wink2:

Thank GOD I did reaearch!!!! This is exactly what I was afraid of-20,000 down the drain. Their big scheme now is telling potential students, they might be getting approved for an RN Program.

No , not really. They take anyone but make U feel exclusive. U really should look into a better school or University. Just because the program is not as long, does not mean it is better. There is a reason for everyhting, you can not measure or put a time limit on education. The more U know..........

Good For YOu! I wish I had done better research and had the knowledge that I do now before I attended Brown Mackie, when I as there the scheme was they will be starting a surgical tech program which I was interested at the time about ...they have the classes now in Michigan City but I wouldn't dare do a dumb thing like that again...good luck and best wishes to you! I start school again for BSN-RN in january 07' at PNC hopefully I do well to get into rush University after that for the CRNA program fingers crossed.

I read that to take the cma certification exam you have to have graduated from a CAAHEP or a ABHES accredited medical assisting program. I don't think the Brown Mackie (South Bend) I looked at is. Was the BMC you went to accredited? Did you take AAMA Certification exam?

The Medical assisting Program at Brown Mackie in Michigan City is ABHES accredited.
