  1. Contact the Dean of Nursing at Valparaiso University! I am sure all pre reqs need to be completed; it actually is to your benefit because it makes for an easier load during once you have started the program. You can find the information you are looking for on the website under Nursing; I am sure if you leave a message or drop an email, someone will return your call promptly. Good Luck, J
  2. I am currently a student a Purdue Calumet with a 4.0 GPA. I am thinking about transferring to Valparaiso University because of all the hassle with general studies at Purdue. I now only need CHEM 119, A&PI and A&P II in order to apply to the Nursing program at Purdue (or sit on the waiting list), however there is a certain sequence in order to take these last courses and they want to add unnecessary course on top of it just to make sure I remain fulltime! I can take my CHEM 119 @ Purdue, while taking A&PI at South Suburban, in the summer I can take A&PII and start nursing courses at Valparaiso. Any suggestions on which school is better, I can not apply to the nursing program @ Purdue until Spring 2009, which means I will have to take MORE courses that are unnecessary (ie: theater, whatever). Any suggestions, I have already spoken with the Dean of Nursing at Valparaiso and I was told as long as I stick to my plan, I would defintely be allowed to transfer and start classes in Fall 2008. It was also suggested I transfer now to Valparaiso instead of waiting, as they have already outlined a plan of study for me to make sure I am taking courses in Fall 2008. Purdue just tacks on so many unnecessary courses. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
  3. MedTech is a proprietary school, exactly like Brown Mackie College & Olympia College. Very expensive and quick AND non eof your credits will transfer to any other college or university should U want 2 continue your education in nursing. BAD DEAL!!!!!! Trust me, look @ the stories posted on this site.
  4. Hey-just emailed U. I am originally from IL, moved 4 years ago to Schererville. Anyway, I plan to get my license in IL, IN and Florida. Not sure about the hoops or why. However, just keep doing your research, and I will too. U can always go on line to the Illinois and/or Indiana state licensing board to ask questions.
  5. No , not really. They take anyone but make U feel exclusive. U really should look into a better school or University. Just because the program is not as long, does not mean it is better. There is a reason for everyhting, you can not measure or put a time limit on education. The more U know..........
  6. Thank GOD I did reaearch!!!! This is exactly what I was afraid of-20,000 down the drain. Their big scheme now is telling potential students, they might be getting approved for an RN Program.
  7. Actualy, am attending PURDUE Calumet to puruse BSN. I didn't have 2 do much research to find out, Brown Mackie, no good. Thank U much 4 the reply.
  8. SEEEEEE, this is the one obstacle I can't afford to bump into. I have heard that API and APII are hard enough to pass the first time. And I too want too want a BSN. I plan on working in the ER or ICU/CCU. Is this BM your talking about? What about IVY Tech? They have an LPN program and a bridge program LPN-RN. Don't get frustrated & DON'T give up!
  9. Hey thanks for the EXCELLENT references!!!! Very useful tools;)
  10. hi mydee - thanks for the reply! quick question: why do u think olympia has a better lpn program? can u tell me what u found in comparing the two lpn programs between the two schools? thanks - jen
  11. Hi trilpletmama - I was also considering Brown MAkcie College in MErrillville, classes start September 5, 2006. I have already taken the proper measures and been accepted, however I am getting good & bad feedback. Kind of worried. What do U know?
  12. where r the lpn programs and or asn programs in indiana!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i wish i could have got into ivy tech in time, this way i would not have to worry about transferring credits and i could go right into the rn program. one of my girlfriends graduated from ivy tech in either hammond or gary w/ an lpn diploma. she now works @ st. anthony crown point. i have the same idea most of you have. lpn to asn, rn & then a bachelors of science in nursing. i want to work in er or ccu. yes, waiting lists are very long. this is why i am considering @ a proprietary school. do u know of anyone who attended the lnp nursing program @ brown mackie college or olympia college? if so, can u give me any feedback on the training and program? they are both accredited, although their credits do not transfer over, and both start in september. i have to decide which one i plan to attend, both schools have accepted me and i did pass the compass & psb entrance exams @ olympia. what would u suggest, the sooner i start school the better! but reputation & training is extremely important! got any feedback? your help is much appreciated!!!
