Looking for another travel company

Published

I'm a new travel nurse traveling through American Mobile and looking to change agencies for my next assignment. I have heard of other nurses making more money than me and have sign on bonuses, etc. I figure if we are doing the same job I am entitled to have what they get as far as pay and benefits. I'm looking to work in California. Does anyone have any recommendations for who I should go through? Thanks so much in advance for the information.

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

[color=olive]hello and welcome to the family of allnurses. good luck to you.

On Assignment is one that I would recommend. If you need more information, you can send me a pm.

I went to Ca with Pulse, now World Health Staffing. They treated me very well, pay rate was good private fully furnished housing.

I worlk with some AMN nurses who did not bode as well as me for the exact same contract.

I have been traveling for 7 years and change companies frequently....

one of the best companies I have been with is RNNetwork....

In CA, Agostini and Associates was good to me but i have heard some people have had problems with them.

Medstaff (recruiter Donna G) is an excellent recruiter and theyhave lots of assignments but benefits subpar.... if u want any other info u can send me a pm!

ONE PLACE YOU CAN DO RESEARCH ON NEW COMPANYS IS AT http://www.delphiforums.com AND LOOK IN THE TRAVEL NURSE AND RESPRITORY THERAPIST AREA. YOU CAN FIND OUT TONS OF INFO ON DIFFERENT COMPANYS. MY PREFERENCE IS FOR ON ASSIGNMENT. I LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM.

I have traveled with Sagent healthstaff for 3 years now, I've had the same recruiter since the begin., never less than $34/hr, always free corporate housing most of the time I have a 2BR apt that I don't even need (linen, utensils, iron& board, pots and pans, telephone, TV, Microwave, w/d, and a gift at each location), $1000 completion bonus after each 13w, and travel money even if I stay put. Most importantly 24h contact with my recruiter.

They are a small company but they make sure you get to see the money since you did most of the work.

I once had an assignment in NYC I got $2800 housing allowance monthly tax free. And you also ger per diem (part of your salary is not even taxed as allowed by IRS but not all companies tell you about it)

877-477-3376, 877-hiredRN

The other nice company that I know of is quick travel staffing, but they do only dialysis.

Stay away from: american mobile, americantraveler, nursesRX, medical express and o'grady peyton they suck. They are big but they take all the money and only leaves you with crumbs no wonder only first timers uses them.

Can you recommend a recruiter with on assignment?

Recruiters names are not permitted to be posted. You can send them via pm.

If you do a research on Delphi for On Assignment, you will find several posts where the company stranded nurses in Tucson. Including one nurse that had paid in advance for three months of RV space. My experience has been that the bigger companies like American Mobile, Cross Crounty, Aureus, and World Health all treat you like a number and just want sales. The email I received from World Health wanted to know my skills so that their SALES TEAM knew exactly how to present me to the hospitals. My resume "sales" itself, I don't need a sales team! Aureus Medical called me one day and left a message on my answer machine about a job... I called back and they couldn't find me EXCEPT by my Social Security Number. Cross Country... when you start out there they want you to do the shared housing thing, and their pay is lower. They have lots of assignments, but still.. big company politics.

Personally, I am with Trinity Healthcare now and absolutely love them. I have also had contacts or worked with Cirrus Medical, Bridge Staffing, Nursing Innovations, Nursing Options, Midwest Staffing, and All About Staffing.. They are smaller companies who will work with your individual needs.

Hope this helps!!

As a nurse who has done more than a little traveling, I can tell you that I have never met a nurse who planned to stay with AM, Medical Express or any of the other big houses. The reasons for this are many, but the prevailing issue is money! These large organizations have alot of overhead, and each level gets a peice of your hard work. Also, american mobile, medical express and many others have corporate "associations". This means if you have the tamarity to piss one of them off, you will be blackballed by all the others. Stick with smaller companies who have verbal references from other nurses.

P.S. If you know the companies 1-800 number by heart, that means you have been on the phone with them to often, switch companies at the end of your assignment.

I do not agree with knowing the toll-free number by heart. I hav enever had one bad issue with my agency and actually refer them all of the time. Also love my recruiter, and check in with her from time to time, etc.

And they are a large, national company, but also pay the best and have the best perks.
