Looking for A&P Online

Published

Hi all...

A&P is my last pre-req I need to apply for the nursing program next spring. Unfortunately, classes are already full for fall, and I have to complete it before the end of the year.

I've checked out Edukan and some other places that offer online courses, and all of them have required copies of transcripts from high school and all colleges. I have credit all over the place, which makes it a bit of a hassle to gather all that info together just to take one class through a community college. Does anyone know if there is anywhere that will let you take the class without all that paperwork? I know I could do credit via Excelsior exam, but I'd rather actually take the class...

Any suggestions appreciated. :)

I'm taking A&P 1 right now with Edukan and I didn't have to supply ANY transcripts. I'm also not a degree seeking student, though. I'm just taking A&P 1 and 2 with them and then transfering them to my local cc. I used Colby as my home school with Edukan. I was able to register online for A&P right after I finished the online admission form. I believe they have another A&P 1 class starting at the end of the month. It is an accelerated version though. I hope this helps.

Can someone tell us a bit more about Edukan? Im totally interested in learning more about it.

that is totally odd. i'm actually enrolled in the a&p class that is starting later this month, also through colby, and they were the ones who told me i had to supply transcripts.

i'll check with someone else at the school. maybe the person i spoke with was mistaken...

thanks!!! :)

oh...and edukan is a consortium of colleges that offers various online courses in business, communications, humanities, languages, math, science and social sciences. i don't have any prior experience with them, but i've heard good things.

their website is: http://www.edukan.org.

there's no prerequisite for a&p 1 if you take it with colby (i know other edukan colleges will make you take biology first). i don't know why they would want your transcripts. if you call back, just tell them you are a non-degree seeking student. you are only planning on taking x amount of courses with them (i think they called this non-matriculating student). like i said, i didn't need to give them transcripts.

I'm taking A&P 1 right now with them. I would totally recommend them. I have also taken courses with ccconline, and Edukan is MUCH cheaper. I think I paid $460 for the A&P 1 course. I would check out their website at http://www.edukan.org.

If you need A&P 1, and you DON'T need biology, use Colby as your "home school". They don't require biology before A&P.

What about the lab requirement. How is that dealt with in an online atmosphere?

Edukan has a virtual lab. You have to buy an ADAM anatomy interactive book and CD. My local cc accepts this course perfectly fine for credit. It's just like transfering credit from one cc to another.

I enrolled in Edukan through Barton County CC and they made me have Biology has a prereq, but Colby doesn't, although the lady at BCCC told me that they were trying to get the prereqs set the same for all colleges. If they do need something, it should only be proof of a biology course. Have you taken that? Seems like she also said that in place of that if you had taken english comp and/or had a high enough english ACT score that would be ok too, but I'm not sure on that. Keep trying with them. You should be able to get in.

There are two A & P classes. One is A & P and the other is A & P I. If I want to transfer into a local private 4 year school, I need A & P with a C or better. I just found out that I can get into their classes as a sophmore this August, if I have that class. Does anyone think that one of these classes may work for a 4 year college? Unfortunately, the Anatomy class I am currently taking will not work for the 4 yr college but will work for the ADN program at the CC level. I would finish both programs in the spring of 09 but of course with the 4 yr degree, I would have a BSN. I need to call them today. Thanks for the info on EduKan.

Find out how many hours they need the class to be and then ask if they will accept it from somewhere such as Colby CCC. Their A&P class is 5 hours, A&P 1 and A&P2 are 4 hours each. Goodluck with it and congrats on the acceptance!

This is Maricopa County's online public community college. I've heard good things about their online A&P. Maricopa County encompasses Phoenix, AZ. It's entirely online. Out of state tuition isn't too bad and classes start often.
