Long Lines!

i to clear my fees at the business office and the line were toooooo long. i did get a chance to sign for my scholarship and will return this afternoon to finish and to finally, get the rest of my books.

You know...at my school, I have NEVER had to wait in lines.

Books are bought at the book store on certain dates, financial aid is sent straight to the school....

Guess I'm kinda lucky...I can't stand waiting in lines! :p

Hope you get it all straightened out soon!

Julie :)

Let me tell you about long lines. Go to bookstore to pick up books (financial aid Hell). Stand in line for 45 minutes just to get to check out. Some of our books are not in. Our kits are not in. Our uniforms are the wrong.

First day of school, I get off work at 7am and have to be at school by 9am. Okay, no problem. At lunch, go to book store, because Potter & Perry have sent chapters of our book (not whole book) and some of our books have come in. Go stand in line for 45 minutes. Am late getting back to class.

Last day of financial aid. Go to bookstore to exchange top and order the parts that did not come in. Also have to pick up kits needed. Stand in line for twenty more minutes.

I love the people in the bookstore. But dang if they don't make life Hell for people who have to pay with financial aid.

Good Luck Stephany!

The worst is the bookstore :o You KNOW how heavy nursing books are...Last semester I broke one the those cheapy baskets they have to hold them all in  Of course you just get wierd looks from all 300 people in line as your arm's dislocating trying to hold on!

I need to get a couple things yet, but didn't even bother yet I'm just going to stop in next week & hope a lot of people will be in class! Thankfully financial aid is mailed to our homes...so one thing down...twenty five to go :chuckle

What books do you need for your first semester? I only needed two textbooks plus three "coursepacks." Basically charging you for a bundle of Xeroxed pages. My books were Fundamentals of Nursing by Potter (& somebody else I can't remember) and the Davis Drug Guide for Nurses.

hmm.. that sounds familiar, I just pm'd you :roll

Our books are heavy also. Our Med-Surg book is at least 3 1/2 inches thick. One good thing, we really don't have to bring to class every day. I tried one of those backpacks on wheel, but found it hard to handle, kept tipping going around corners, hard to use on stairs...

"wavey: welcome and all the best to you!

Lucky for me I won't need to lug all my books around at the same time (see the above message for all I had to buy!). We generally only need the Principles book for lecture.

I bought one of those backpacks on wheels and it has been all over the country with me. I use it as a carry on, overnight bag etc. I love it!

But you still must use it as a backpack ocasionally on stairs etc. In the long run? A backpack only on the stairs is better than a backpack all the time!
