how long to get a job after passing?

Let's say you take and pass the NCLEX PN on the 1st of the month... about how long will it take before you can be employed? Does the licensing take forever? Do you need the license before you start applying and going on interviews? I am in NYC but any information regardless of locale would be appreciated? Thanks.

well, I don't know about Houston, but I started interviewing before I got my license, that way... I had a job when I took and passed my test. If you let the interviewer know that you haven't taken your test or that you're just waiting for the results then they may hold the job for you. I'm not sure how long it takes your state to return results but it shouldn't take any longer then a month. In my state (Indiana) they offered a # to call to find out if we passed... maybe your state does too. Well I hope this answered your question at least a little.

You can job hunt prior to testing. Just let your employer kno when you will be taking it. License should be to you within the week. You should be able to check on you BON website within a couple of days.
