Long commute, need audio cd advise please

I am starting school in a few days, and my commute is 67 miles each way with some traffic. I am looking at getting a medical terminology audio cd just to keep things fresh in my head. Does anyone have any suggestions on any other subjects that might be good to brush up on during my long, boring commute? Thanks in advance everyone!

If you're doing podcasts, for more advanced students (and practicing nurses), I'd recommend ICUrounds. Jeff Guy is the speaker. His stuff is amazing! I listen to it all the time, and I learn so much.

I just posted on another board that I am considering applying to a program that would mean a 1.5 hour commute each way for me. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one doing this, that it can possibly be accomplished, and that there are ways to utilize my time in the car. Recording lectures sounds like a great idea! I'm not hip enough to listen to podcasts yet but that sounds like its worth looking into as well.

Vangonotes for nurses

I agree about Jeff Guy and ICU Rounds--I made a playlist just of his stuff and it's fantastic. I always learn a lot from his (and others') podcasts. It's great to get a different viewpoint for the same info you're learning in class. Everybody covers things in a slightly different way, and I often find I get a better understanding of tricky concepts by hearing explanations from more than one person. I don't think I've had an exam yet where at least a couple of questions were answered correctly just because of listening to podcasts.

But I definitely agree with relistening to lectures. I always do that, and I always hear something important that I had forgotten or not fully understood in class. :jester:

Good luck--I'm sure you'll do great with all your "extra" study time.

The Jeff Guy podcasts are great!! I am currently listening to the pharmacology one just to get a headstart for my summer 8 week pharmacology course!! Thanks everyone!

I use a livescribe pen. I use it record my lectures and when I get home, I save the files as MP3s, then transfer the audio to my iphone. If your stereo has an auxiliary plug, you can play off your MP3 player straight into the radio using a cord. I listen to my pharmacology lectures, especially before an exam.

I love this thread! My clinicals will be an hour plus drive, and Baltimore traffic is terrible! These ideas will be so helpful!! :)
