lonestar nursing 2014 hopeful

Published

Hi, just wanted to start a post about my process of applying at lonestar. Hope to hear from other applicants! I have just taken my HESI and will be applying for the spring semester with a score of 11.54

Jen1310 my email is [email protected]. Feel free to email me with any questions. I agree, no one holds your hand during the application process however, I have done alot of research and cried many tears getting to this point. I am 50, single, with a 6, 12 and 20 year old. I know the system well and one of the things that I do, is share my experience and motivate women to do more for themselves. The single mom at Dollar General working minimum wage, is back in school. I don't know her personally but I hounded her to do better and showed her how to be able to improve her life. The 50 year old woman at the gas station is back in school and the MA at my Dr's office is going for nursing. Noone told me what I was capable of. My goal is to help others improve their lives. I hand out my phone number everywhere I go. You are capable of anything you set your mind to, regardless of what others think!! Enough of my preaching!

Momma_D, you have to be at the top of the alternate list. Don't beat yourself up about the small stuff. Your score is good. Be proactive and make some calls. Ask why? I imagine that they won't send out those emails till after orientation. It's right around the corner. Dec. 4.

I'm not good at the asking question part. I don't want to upset anyone in the nursing office, yet I want so badly to understand. The next two weeks are gonna be torturous!

I just got my blue card today...took 4 business days in state...did you email them to check on it?

I will email you soon and we can exchange numbers.

Momma D I agree with Livinlife...never hurts to ask...That is odd about the scoring ( did you apply to Cy fair?) . If your not great at asking questions I would conduct a nice email explaining your concerns (if you did apply to Cy Fair Ms Anderson is pretty quick with the responses...albeit, she is sometimes short too but I imagine this is a busy time for her...either way I'm sure she would at least respond.)

It is horrible to have to wait like that...but I will be crossing my fingers for you.

Krystalias, yes I applied to Cy Fair. and have emailed her twice with other questions that have yet to be answered. :0(

I will try once again. Thanks for your understanding.

I lived in Ponchatoula ( I know :) ) ...it's between New Orleans and Baton Rouge

I know exactly where that is. I lived in Houma for 25 years. Two of my children and all of my grand children are still there.

krystalias I sent you a PM

Houma...wow! My husband worked off shore and left out of Houma all the time ( That's the real Bayou down there :) I only lived there for 3 years but I miss it...I've been to a few places and there is just no where like Louisiana.

Okay so I set up a facebook page called Cy fair Nurses 2015 ( our expected grad year) I think it might be a useful tool for us...assuming I set it up right

I wonder how much the book pack is going to be. If someone funds out please post.
