Lonestar 2014 Fall Hopefuls!

Ok I know it's very early starting this but I am so excited I couldn't help it! Application period doesn't even start until January! My journey has been a long one and I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel so I am sharing a little of that experience here and I would love to hear from others as well.

I just received my clearance letter from the BON so I am clear to apply in January for North Harris and Montgomery ADN programs, unfortunately I missed Kingwood. At this point I have an 11.1 and I'm about to retake the HESI so we shall see what is in store for me. I'm done with all my pre-reqs for my BSN and I'm so ready to start the next phase of my education and get on with more taking care of people! It's been 25 years since I decided I wanted to be a nurse. Twenty years of raising my kids, taking care of soldiers' families and single soldiers and eight years of riding in an ambulance later, I'm ready to follow my dream! Watch me go!

Hey all, I wanted to see who HASN'T taken micro yet? and if not, when are you planning on taking it? I am unsure wether to take it this summer in a 6 week mini or the summer between 1st and 2nd year nursing? Thoughts?? The biggest issue is the limited times they are giving for this semester at montgomery. The only 6 week class is from 10-2 Mon-Thur! Thats smack in the middle of the day so everyones work schedule would be screwed! I couldn't work in the morning, and I couldn't work in the afternoon! I am hoping that the next summer woud be better, but I am afraid to chance it! Heeellllpppp!!!

Hi krw2013,

I took micro last Fall, 16 wks. I made an A, but I really had to work it. I would not suggest taking it in a mini course. Maybe a hybrid course could work. If I had to take it again, that is what I would do.

I would not attempt a 6 week Micro course. I would look at other schools to see if they offer a better time and longer session. I took mine last semester as well and it kicked my rear. I took mine at HCC. Also, I think you have to have Micro before the second semester of the program so I would get it out of the way this summer if possible.
