Lone Star Spring 2011

Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.

I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?

Hey luvtosow, you just pick one of the background center locations, go in and get fingerprinted, get your picture taken and leave. I complete mine in June so I already have a 'cleared' result back. I submitted it with my application back in July.

Where are the background center locations? Where do I find that list? Where did you go? Thanks so much! Congrats to you can't wait to meet you. My name is Heather...I would like to be on the Facebook list too!

I just got my letter Kingwood 11.9132....Can anyone tell me what the procedure is for the background check? Can't wait to meet you all at orientation.

Congrats to all Kingwood Applicants who got in!!!! I finally got my letter and I'm not even an alternate at Cy Fair and well now I know I won't be getting into Kingwood either... man cutoffs were high this time around! Best of luck to all of you!

One last thing before I stop getting on this thread... does anyone know of a testing center where I can take a "practice" HESI before I have to do the real thing at the school? I was hoping that I could just go take it to see what I got.

Keep your head up and keep trying. I know a lot of folks, including myself, that took 3 times to finally get in. I'm not sure of any HESI practice places but they do have a lot of books you can find on Amazon.

When I turned in my intent letter to Cyfair, she said they would e-mail us the info on that soon:)

Keep your head up and keep trying. I know a lot of folks, including myself, that took 3 times to finally get in. I'm not sure of any HESI practice places but they do have a lot of books you can find on Amazon.

Cyfair has one in there library that helped me ALOT. I think it was calld "Nursing School Entrance Exams".

When I received my acceptance letter to the lvn program; we had orientation soon after receipt. At that orientation we took our drug test (at that moment a guy was there waiting for us) and a few days later we were emailed the information for the background checks. You will have everything you need in the email to find a center close to you. I went to a location over in SW Houston. I had a dr appt on that same day so I was not put out by driving so far away from Katy. You will receive a blue card from the BON when your background check is clear, I am not sure what you receive if the background check is not clear. The nursing department will be notified of your drug test results and from my understand they will contact you if the results are questionable. Hope this helps.

I just checked my mail, and so far nada. I'm so eager... I hate all this waiting.

Has anyone else had to do a declamatory order? I have a PI charge from 2007 and am working on doing this ASAP.

Songbird.. what was your score that you got on the alternate list? Just curious....

I had to do one. I actually did it back in May because I had heard it could take up to 6 months to complete. Got mine back in about a month, though so I'm sure you won't have any trouble!!

Ok thanks so much for the info! Our kingwood letters say the background check is due but dosen't give us a date so I didn't know for sure :)

Where are the locations for a background check? I just googled "background check houston" and didn't see anything?? Is it a special place or something? I would like to get mine done asap as well.
