Lone Star Spring 2011

Published

Okay, for all of us that did not get into the Lone Star Fall 2010 program and are trying again for the Spring...here we go again.

I'm retaking AP2 this summer (I have a B so now I want an A) to increase my points. After that I just don't know what else to do because I have all co-reqs completed, CPR done and Immunizations done. What are your plans to increase your chances of getting in for the Spring?

I'm in the same boat... nothing from Cy Fair... well I hope this is good news!

Ok guys, I had my boyfriend call up at Cyfair and some of the stuff I mention in here I have already said, so bear with me. They said they send out two batches of letters. The first wave of letters has gone out, which include both denial, as well as acceptance letters. The second wave has not gone out yet, but will be going out soon (she did not give a date).

Im wondering if the first wave of letters is all the people that picked Cyfair as their first choice, and if the second wave is all the people who picked cyfair as their second choice?

Also, if what she is saying is true, why has no one gotten any letters yet? AHHHHHHH

*Attention All Kingwood Applicants*

I just contacted the campus and asked one simply question..."When will the acceptance or denial letters be mailed out"...I was told all letters will be going out in the next two weeks. Please someone else call and ask. I was so nervous that I actually gave my name...Ugh. Now if I call back to get a more specific answer she will surely know it is me! CyFair was my second choice so I am not sure if I should expect anything from that campus. I could kick myself now for applying to KW as my first choice because CF would be so much closer and convenient...Who am I fooling? I would have a letter in the mail NOW instead of waiting another two weeks. :lol2: Good luck everyone! :)

I called Kingwood and I did not get an answer. The only number I can find for there nursing department is Donna Spivey's number. Do you have another contact number for Kingwood?

Good Luck to everyone. I applied with a pretty low score 10.898. There are some really high scores on here. I believe anything is possible. There is a student in my Pharm course that said she was denied, then accepted two days before for Fall semester at North Harris. Not sure how it works for Kingwood and Cyfair. I applied at Kingwood in Sept. I will be retaking Psych and Comp I for a higher score to reapply next year. I havent recieved my denial letter, but I see that most are saying that Kingwood letters will go out in two more weeks.

Yes, I went on Kingwood's nursing department website and found numbers for all the nursing staff. Contact the administrative assistant for DS. I cannot give the name on here but it begins with a V.

xsao, a 10.898 is still a great score, and anything is possible!!! If you dont get in this semester, just keep trying as you are planning on doing. I live in Austin and I have applied and been rejected twice from nursing school, so I am hoping for the best right now. I dont know if I can handle one more rejection, my ego is really getting bruised lol!!! Keep us posted if you get a letter soon :)

Wow. I had no idea that the programs were so competitive. The website for Kingwood says that letters of notification September. However, two weeks from now will be October. I guess we will see. I think I saw somewhere that Kingwood is accepting 60 and recieved about 100 applications. I wonder if that includes alternates. Just trying to gather info, it will be helpful to know when I reapply next year.

Doesn't admin close early on Fridays? I bet the letters did not make it to the actual post office on Friday.

OMG the programs are way to competitive!! I have actually taken all my pre -reqs for my associates, as well as my bachelors because I keep getting rejected so just keep trucking. My original school that I have been attending adds an extra point if you live in district for the nursing department. I do not live in district so I didn't get the extra point. That extra point can really kill your score. I was so mad last semester because I had a good GPA and a good hesi score and I called up my college and asked why I didn't get in and she said "well you missed it by one point, so had you lived in district you would have been accepted." My two thoughts on this was... You make more money off me because I pay out of district tuition, and that really is so unfair! Oh well, everything happens for a reason, Im just hoping 3rd time is a charm lol!

Im really hoping the letters come by Wednesday because Im leaving for Santa Fe NM on Thursday for the weekend and I will be going insane thinking my letter is in the mailbox.

just got home from work and no letter for me today either. I wonder if they mail them alphabetically, that would suck for me cuz my last name starts with Z. I'm off work tomorrow, perhaps it will come....

I really think it's worse that we know that they mailed some out...now (at least for me) there's more expectation of getting a letter. I was kinda ignoring it till they said it was coming...ARGH.

This website is becoming a train wreck for me. I cannot stay off the website for more than an hour now. I am so eager to see if the CyFair folks are receiving acceptance or denial letters. I know I have a good two weeks wait (from what Kingwood's office staff said) so I am getting myself all worked up for nothing. I was pretty relaxed in the fact that October is coming and letters will be coming soon. Then I see that CyFair updated their website and I went bananas! lol I believe in my heart we will all be meeting up soon; we will be nursing students in January. Keep the faith. I am going to try and concentrate on my Pharmacology studies and stay off this site for at least two days. Good luck and good night!
