Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

At cyfair you’ll get tested before every clinical unless you are at Methodist I believe. And if you are on a prescription and you test positive all you do is show the prescription after they contact you

Is it like that at all the campuses?

I seriously doubt they would kick someone out for being on prescription medication unless they are misusing them.

Yeah I think I'm just freaking out I read that on an old forum

How do I set up an appointment for avenue 360?

Does anyone know where CF does their clinicals?

I would read through the 2019 forum. I found a lot of useful info there but I wasn’t looking at CF I did even put CF as an option when I applied ???

@RNtobe did you notice a big difference between the nursing pharmacology edition 6 and 7? I got my 6th edition in today! So far it looks similar.

There were a few chapters that have newer meds added and also meds removed. One chapter has different name I think it’s chapter about heart failure but I used both the 6th and the ebook at the same time. I would use the read aloud feature of the ebook and follow along with the 6th edition if that makes sense so I just added or made notes in a notebook of any significant changes.

I had to have a physical book to highlight and also helped with study guides.

Ok thanks! Yeah I like having a physical book a lot better than an ebook. And I don’t care for the ebooks website. Plus when my 2.5 yr old sees my laptop open he wants to touch and press all the buttons LOL I can get more reading done the old fashion way. I’ll make sure to skim the new one from chapter to chapter though. Thank you!
