Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

If you don’t get into your first choice, do they automatically place you into your second choice?

I didn’t pass medsurg 3 at cyfair. At cyfair my anxiety was to the extreme. It isn’t easy and it’s extremely fast paced. I would do it again but I want to go to kingwood

Hello varango02, I am starting the Cyfair program in August and I am considering on quiting my job or going part time 20 hours at least. Do you think part time work is doable? I am nervous and don't want to do poorly. Also, would I need to keep my days off open for orientations? I heard that you have to be very flexible with time. Please let me know what you thing I am both very excited and nervous at the same time.

Do you also know when we would get more information on books and lab equipment. Would this be at the boot camp which is the Thursday before classes start? We have already all been registered. Thank you in advance.

In all honesty your first semester you might be able to work part time but after that I wouldn't plan to. Yes be very flexible with your time. It can get frustrating because most likely they will tell you things last minute. Books they should have already told you but you can also look on the syllabus on lonestar website and get an idea on what you need. Lab equipment they will give you a huge bag full of things (at least that's what they did with us) that has everything you need for lab. At boot camp they will let you know everything.

Cy fair is a wonderful campus and has a good ADN program. I would go again (which is why I applied to both kingwood and cyfair) but you have to keep in mind it is a fast paced program.

For anyone with Cyfair specific questions feel free to call me 832-495-8241. I dont mind talking about my experience and give advice on the classes.

How do we calculate the scores?

Take your two classes and average them. Then take your overall hesi square and divide by 25. Add both together

so so for example if you have an A in English and an A in AP then that’s 4.

Hesi: 90/25=3.6

so 3.6+4= 7.6

so you have 7.6 out of 8

Ok thank you! Mine averages out to a 7.3 I just took my hesi test today. I won’t even waste my time applying for the spring now .
