Lone Star Fall 2020

Published

It may be early but around this time, those applying to Fall 2020 are engulfed in an A&P course trying for the grades needed. Collaboration and early encouragement can only help. Fall seems to be the large cycle and a lot have had the same instructors. Some of us could even be sitting by each other in class and not know.

I know we cannot say who we are taking. I'm in A&P 1 at Tomball in a hybrid course. If I can be of any help I will do so. I have a study guide for A&P that's about 90 pages. In addition, I have a pdf of one of the books (I think it's Marieb).

Goodxluck in class everyone and hope to see you in nursing school in the Fall!

That’s correct, I retook A&P 1 three times and I retook A&P 2 two times. They take the higher grade for the nursing program. I had a 7.63, it was a 6.8 when I was rejected last year. I was accepted to NH for the fall of 2020.

That is some serious DRIVE. Yes, ma’am!!

Auroriux.. it sounds like you have have been misinformed. The protocol for Lone Star is all clear on the nursing website requirements. Your overall GPA is not as critical for their programs as your Eng 1301 and either A&P 1, or 2. You cannot repeat the lecture portion of a science course without also repeating the corresponding laboratory course. The only way to deduct from your overall credits is to fair less than you did the first time around. Microbiology, pharmacology, psychology, philosophy, and maybe nutrition or lifespan development.. some of those are co-requ’s for the ADN, and others are good to have in your pocket if you’re aiming for a BSN degree anytime down the line. HESI scores attribute to the other 50% at Lone Star, and I’d suggest you at least aim for AT LEAST 90% overall for the ADN programs. Best of luck!

Thanks for the info I’ve got A on A&P 2 and B on english, my score on HESI was 90.4 and my advisor told me to repeat english to get A or repeat HESI, so I will be repeating english. I think I will just keep it simple with what I have and see what happens, thank you for your help

Is there a facebook group for the montgomery program?

I’m a little late but I got into the LVN program? It was a last minute backup plan.

Anyone get an email yet from Identogo (the fingerprinting folks)? The nursing department DID say it was on delay, but I know we can’t get our blue card from the BON until all that is processed. I wonder if it’s worth getting the prints done through them BEFORE the school-appointed email. Thoughts?

Also SUPER curious what courses may land online. I’d actually prefer lecture to be online, and labs at school.

Most people from NH have received the identogo email. You can’t get prints done until they give you the code sent by email. I’ve heard Cy-Fair doesn’t have access to much yet (including castle branch and indentogo). At NH lecture and clinical is online and labs will be In person for the first 3 weeks in case the school shuts down again. Not sure how it looks for other campuses but that’s how NH is looking.

Thanks! That does help clarify things. Guess I’ll go by the books on the fingerprinting. I’ve had my CastleBranch for about a week now, and the SS verification was quick, but there’s not much more to move forward with, without the go-ahead from Identogo.

How did you get the low-down on class instruction? Did they update you in an email?

Edit: I’m at the Cy-Fair campus. Forgot to mention that

Im at the Tomball location, but NH had orientation Monday, so that is how she probably received her information

Are the orientations happening in person? Are y’all in small groups? Or is it a Zoom call?

Sorry if I seem out of the loop. I refuse to have a facebook and I figure a lot of the dialogue has shifted that way.
