Lone Star Fall 2020

Published

It may be early but around this time, those applying to Fall 2020 are engulfed in an A&P course trying for the grades needed. Collaboration and early encouragement can only help. Fall seems to be the large cycle and a lot have had the same instructors. Some of us could even be sitting by each other in class and not know.

I know we cannot say who we are taking. I'm in A&P 1 at Tomball in a hybrid course. If I can be of any help I will do so. I have a study guide for A&P that's about 90 pages. In addition, I have a pdf of one of the books (I think it's Marieb).

Goodxluck in class everyone and hope to see you in nursing school in the Fall!

Thank you! It's a 25 minutes toll to Montgomery from home, so it's not really that far, but TB is only 16 minutes from home. And I heard that both of them are good but TB is more disorganized... So I really don't know how should I choose? I think of putting NH as third choice and that's it, no Cyfair!?

What have your heard about Tomball being disorganized? I haven’t heard that so I am curious ?

I heard some of friends saying that, and I believe I saw similar comments earlier in this post. I heard that they notify students orientation details only a week before classes start? which worries me a little.

At this point the whole program is disorganized no matter the campus ? allowing someone students to retake the HESI while others can’t, allowing for some students to reapply with their new grade while others can’t, some people are being straight up ignored by their first choice campus with no response for months. Yes tomball has been known to let people know late when orientation/classes will start. They say if you go to tomball just be flexible with how they run the program LOL

Are you also making TB your first choice??

I took a chance and put Montgomery as my first choice, I live maybe 6 minutes from the campus. I’m not expecting to get in with a 7.63 at this point but I thought might as well try.

Hey now, there’s no need to knock on anyone’s prospective school.

The grass is green where you water it.. so bloom where you are planted.

Be well, and slay on.

I have a score of 7.744 and my first choice is Montgomery, 2nd is Tomball, 3rd is NH, and 4th is CyFair. I'm not confident that my score is competitive enough to get into my first (or even second choice) but I'm praying that I'll get in somewhere. I have no clue how many applicants there usually are vs. how many seats are available at each location so I'm very anxious about my standing. I wonder when we should expect to find out if we made the cut or not.

I’m very (very) new to the nursing world so I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, but what score are you referring to when you say you have a 7.7 score??

That’s how I put my schools in order as well. When I got my rejection letter last year the email said there was 600 applicants with only 260 seats. Truthfully, I don’t think we will be going to Montgomery. The highest they took last year was around a 7.65 and It’s just going up from there.. Montgomery has 40 seats which is why it’s so competitive. Tomball has a little more than that and NH has 120 seats. I’m thinking we will find out in late June/early July but who the heck knows. I’m praying you get in somewhere too! Good luck to you.

Not a dumb question! So when you’re filling out the application for Lone Star’s ADN/LVN program they place you by this score which is basically your English 1301 and A&P 1 or A&P2 - whichever grade you got the higher score in. That is your GPA for applying. If you have A’s in both of those classes you have 4 points. The other points come from your HESI score which will be an additional 4 points to the GPA score. If someone got a 100% on the HESI they would get the full 8 points, the higher the score the better the chance they will get accepted. If you’re applying you’ll be able to see your score on the application page!

OMG your score is good.. It’s competitive.. With the deadline extended & people taking there application back resubmitting I’m not so sure about Montgomery either and I have a 7.71. Either way I’m confident I’ll be somewhere that’s all that matters. I’m in & starting my dream.

Totally agree. It’s amazing that almost none of us feel confident this time around. I have a 7.79 and know I will get in somewhere, but have zero confidence that I will get my first choice ? the stress is so real.... we should have a virtual happy hour after we find out ?
