Lone Star Fall 2020

Published

It may be early but around this time, those applying to Fall 2020 are engulfed in an A&P course trying for the grades needed. Collaboration and early encouragement can only help. Fall seems to be the large cycle and a lot have had the same instructors. Some of us could even be sitting by each other in class and not know.

I know we cannot say who we are taking. I'm in A&P 1 at Tomball in a hybrid course. If I can be of any help I will do so. I have a study guide for A&P that's about 90 pages. In addition, I have a pdf of one of the books (I think it's Marieb).

Goodxluck in class everyone and hope to see you in nursing school in the Fall!

In first semester you’ll be taking health assessment, skills, and fundamentals. If I’m not mistaken it’s 4-5 days out of the week. I always thought first semester was the hardest but others will tell you it’s not. To me skills was the hardest since the exam was always so detailed.

so if you fail (get less than a 75) your first semester you’re out. After first semester if you fail a class you get a chance to retake the class when it’s available. If you fail any class again then you’re out of the program.

there are students who have told me not to go to Cyfair again and even friends tell me the same thing but I think it’s doable. It isn’t easy by any means and I’ve heard they have made the exams harder but when you’re studying you have to learn the material not just pass the exam.

Ah, thank you for that! I’ve got four kids, so I know time management and making sure I really understand what I’m learning is a must. Hoping I will get accepted! Are you reapplying for fall 2020?

I am! I already submitted the application haha now it’s just waiting until April/May to see if I get accepted or not.

Wishing you the best! Pretty sure you’ll get in! My hep b titer came back negative so I am taking the 2 month fast track starting this week ? other than that, I’ll be able to submit lol

CyFair is my first choice!

Would you be able to tell me what the schedule is like? If you don’t make above a 75 in one class, are you removed from the program and have to reapply?

I'm so grateful for the info you provided - regarding how fast paced it is, and that the instructors that are great. I’ve heard quite a few negative things about the campus, so it’s gotten me more nervous about it lol

Hi there! Where did you get your titers done? Thanks!

Hey! I just got one vaccination done today!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Immunization Clinic in Stafford! Their titer cost for Hep B is $37.99, and they offer fast track Hep B vaccinations.

Fast track Hep B only takes two months - one now and the last one next month. The staff there is amazing, and it’s super quick. You’re literally in and out!

Hello Everyone!!!! I just applied to the program and i'm really hoping I get in. Just a little worried about my scores. I've been reading up on the previous threads about this and I see it's very competitive. I'm applying to NH,T,M,Cyfair in that order with a 7.36. I have A's in both A&P's and an A in English as well. What do you guys think about this, do I have a shot at any of those schools?

I wanted to retake the HESI but decided not to because I didn't want to possible go any lower lol!!!!!

Thank you and good luck to everyone!

Welcome to the forum! Feel free to add your score to the scores above. It can be tricky not knowing if you should retake the HESI, I was in the same boat. I finally accepted my score and applied before I could think about it anymore. I think you should be able to get into North Harris, I’m not sure about the other schools. I know last years application took a 7.3 as their lowest score. So unless a significant amount of people decide to apply for the fall than last year then you should get in. Good luck to you!
