Lone Star Fall 2020

Published

It may be early but around this time, those applying to Fall 2020 are engulfed in an A&P course trying for the grades needed. Collaboration and early encouragement can only help. Fall seems to be the large cycle and a lot have had the same instructors. Some of us could even be sitting by each other in class and not know.

I know we cannot say who we are taking. I'm in A&P 1 at Tomball in a hybrid course. If I can be of any help I will do so. I have a study guide for A&P that's about 90 pages. In addition, I have a pdf of one of the books (I think it's Marieb).

Goodxluck in class everyone and hope to see you in nursing school in the Fall!

Anyone applying for the LVN program? I was wondering what’s a good score. Currently have a 7.6 for the LVN .

I am. I started a thread here for it.

Oof. I'm still kicking myself about not understanding this process sooner. Stupid transfer scores. If I just had retaken English in time, I'd be sitting at a 7.9 ?

I plan to attend the montgomery nursing info session on feb 6 and talk to them about how the transfer process works. I'll apply to all campuses and then I want to try to transfer into Montgomery after the 1st semester.

....This is all assuming I am still in Texas at that point. Boyfriend might be rejoining the Navy so if we move before the fall I'd be looking elsewhere and probably just try to go straight into an accelerated BSN plan, since I have a Bachelors in something else already.

I appreciate this discussion thread for shedding some light on this process for me! I only decided back in November I was going to look at ADN as an option again. I wish I had found this thread sooner, in time to retake English!

Hello everyone! Ok so super nervous but I went to Cyfair before and sadly received a 72 on Medsurg 3 (last semester) and have to do the program again. Super excited and just submitted my application to hopefully start in the fall! My overall score is a 7.66. I had applied to start in the Spring 2020 and got in at another campus but had to give up my spot due to my pregnancy. Fingers crossed I get in this time around at Cyfair!

It is definitely not easy. I enjoyed my time there but expect to study hard and every day. It is very fast paced but I loved the teachers and the experience. Honestly if I would have put more effort into it and not been so laid back I would have graduated. Yes it is disorganized and you have to be patient with dates and updates but I would say if youre ok with fast paced then apply. If you want to have breaks and have a lot of anxiety then do not apply to Cyfair. If you need to work full time as well do not apply to Cyfair. You can not pick your dates for clinical (you can at Kingwood or NH i believe) nor lab days.

I am in no way trying to scare anyone from applying but out of all the campuses I would say Cyfair can be the toughest because of its fast paced curriculum.

Thank you!! I hope so!

Also if anyone has any questions about Cyfair feel free to ask away!

Sorry if this has been asked, I didn't see it previously in the thread. Does anyone know what Kingwoods cut off for admission was last time?

I am planning on taking AP1 in summer1 session so I can meet the August deadline for the ADN Spring 2021!

CyFair is my first choice!

Would you be able to tell me what the schedule is like? If you don’t make above a 75 in one class, are you removed from the program and have to reapply?

I'm so grateful for the info you provided - regarding how fast paced it is, and that the instructors that are great. I’ve heard quite a few negative things about the campus, so it’s gotten me more nervous about it lol

In first semester you’ll be taking health assessment, skills, and fundamentals. If I’m not mistaken it’s 4-5 days out of the week. I always thought first semester was the hardest but others will tell you it’s not. To me skills was the hardest since the exam was always so detailed.

so if you fail (get less than a 75) your first semester you’re out. After first semester if you fail a class you get a chance to retake the class when it’s available. If you fail any class again then you’re out of the program.

there are students who have told me not to go to Cyfair again and even friends tell me the same thing but I think it’s doable. It isn’t easy by any means and I’ve heard they have made the exams harder but when you’re studying you have to learn the material not just pass the exam.
