I applied to Lone Star - ADN program Spring 2012. I was accepted as an alternate. I am hoping to get a call from the nursing department saying there is a spot for me. If not I will be reapplying for the next application period for entrance to the program in the Fall 2012. Good luck everyone!!!!

Ten days of freedom left (aka summer break) then it is going to be nose to the grindstone! Oh I ask that the power to study until my eyes fall out and my brain fills with knowledge be granted unto me! There that is my prayer. I am a believer in prayer, i have seen it work for me many, many, many times and i have faith that it will continue to work for me. Anyone else ready to dedicate the next two years to reading and studying our nursing books? I personally cannot stay away from the books i already bought. Not sure what i need to be reading for class, but i have been flipping pages and scanning paragraph after paragraph. It is just for leisure at this point in time hope i can enjoy it this much when the reading becomes an assignment and then a quiz.

Oh, I wish I could spend time going through my books, but I've got so much to do at home and so many errands to run, that I'm savouring every moment I don't have to be doing something! I am just waiting for the PowerPoints to arrive... ;-)

Yesterday, I finished the basic care class @ NH and now today, I'm back to work. I received some homework assignments regarding dosage calculations and physical assessments, so I will be adding that to my daily study routine. Can't believe we only have 1 full work week left and then it's time for school, full-time. EEK!

Well I bought the basic nursing kit and I must say: Im not impressed with the $100 worth of stuff. Also, I'm with all of you, I'm enjoying every min that I have with my beautiful children and getting some last min RR. Hope everyone is enjoying summer b/c its coming to and end so fast.

Yep I spent most of my day today looking up crock pot and freezer meal recipes so I can make dinners all week with only one day of cooking, I am looking forward to class starting, only bad thing for me is it looks like my financial aid will be in about a week after school starts so I won't have all the books I need for NH.

At least one night of the week (clinicals), I will be surrendering myself to take out food. Oh, if I could only find a chef to marry, lol...

for the students attending the Tomball program, we received an email regarding our first day of class along with a list of suggested chapters to read before starting classes on Monday.....thought this weekend would be my last free weekend, but it looks like last weekend was, I have some reading to do to be prepared for next week...yikes, I already invited folks from out of town to come stay at my place this weekend, hope they enjoy watching me read

just thought I would mention that during our skills I class the instructor informed us that all of the alternates for Tomball had been called to join the program and we had a few seats left open. I have looked at the numbers and Lone Star takes about 350 students system wide where as Houston Community College only takes about 208 and that is after they expanded their program

Did anyone else recieve an email regarding financial aid?! I had all this done and taken care of earlier in summer and NOW they say I'm on suspension. I have called every school and I'm being sent to voicemail. I guess they really want to see my pretty face so early in the morning. lol

Also, For everyone going to Montgomery- are you signing up for the Nursing organization on Monday, and what is Professional causal wear?! lol I have dark wash jeans. :)

gmarks, I think I'm going to wear some beige trousers, a white blouse, and flats, but I know a couple of people who say they are going to wear their scrubs. Well, it is our version of professional, lol.

I don't know what the heck professional casual wear is! Khakis and loafers and a polo?

I own none of the above. So I'll probably just wear scrubs.
